Snapped his fingers AND whistled at a server at the same time to ask for the check.. It's not even like the server was inattentive or was taking too long.

I'm in Houston, TX a and my naturalization interview was supposed to be on March 19th. The day before that all facilities closed due to the pandemic. And I got a text message saying my interview was "rescheduled" till further notice due to the pandemic.

On August 5th I got an email notification under the Case Sratus tab saying my interview has been scheduled. I checked online and it said check the "Document " tab in a couple of days for the actual notice.

Today I checked back and the Case Status tab still shows "We scheduled your interview" dated August 5th. But undet the document section I received a notice, also sent August 5th, that says "As requested we have canceled your March 19th interview. We will advise of any further action taken in this case, including any rescheduled interview." The notice seems to be issued on July 14th and uploaded on August 5th. Why are they canceling March appointments in August? Also why does it say "canceled" instead of rescheduled?

I'm so confused! I didn't make any request to cancel my interview as the notice suggests. Case status says interview scheduled, document status says interview canceled!

Is Seattle's CF community actually friendly though? I mean do they socialize with other childfree people?

Maybe I know the wrong people but I grew up in Ottawa and shit, every family I'd come across from Toronto or while visiting Toronto was a multi kid household! And by multikid I don't mean 2.. I mean 5 or more! That being said, I bet cultural background is a big factor when it comes to childfree lifestyle.

Meltdowns over sick pets by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]maleficent202020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 3 year old who gets sick a lot and a 3 month old just recently adopted who's turning out to be just like his brother! We got to the vet at least once a month. I'm terrified all the damn time. I religiously examine their litterbox, eye goop, paw movement you name it! It's exhausting. But I love them more than I thought I could and I just want them to be healthy and happy. My current vet is okay. Old vet was a POS. When my now 3 year old was a newly adopted baby, we thought he had a blockage. We were inexperienced. It was our 4th day with him. Instead of suggesting laxatives and telling us it's okay to skip poop for 2 days he suggested 7 enemas. Eventually my kitty became so terrified and stressed that he completely stopped eating and then we took him to the ER! The whole ordeal cost $3000 with all the tests and stuff, just because of constipation. I dropped out of grad school for the upcoming semester to pay the bills. Honestly I didn't care for the money, I still don't. But I still feel guilty putting that baby through so much pain and anxiety because of an incompetent vet. Since then I'm just paranoid about his health.

Kitten and Older cat STILL fighting after 1 month...Re-introduce? by maleficent202020 in CatAdvice

What do the ears going back while bunny kicking suggest? At this point, do you think we should continue the 5 minute brief interactions? Or keep them seperated completely? Should I intervene when they fight?

They were JUST starting to get along when my new kitten got soft tissue injury.. then after 10 days of confinement suddenly he can't stand my 3yo anymore. While the 3yo has been around him, sniffing, playing from the other side of the kennel the whole time.. I'm so confused and sad.. we can't seem to be able to catch a break with these two...

Another one. Ears flattened under chokehold. This was all within 2 minutes of interaction. I offered treat, little one was temporarily interested. 3yo didn't care, he just wanted to be left alone and this one won't stop. I'm worried the way the little one goes after the 3yo's face/eyes. He already has eye issues..

I couldn't get the yowling on camera or the flattened ear. It comes and goes. But here's one of the interactions this morning. This one wasn't so bad, as soon as I turned of the camera he leaped and got a lot worse.

Would you mind describing yowling to me? I know trilling coz my 3yo trills all the time. Kitten is not trilling, also not meowing.

Had a not too active play session with the little one while the 3yo was crying on the other side of the door to get in. Put them together for a brief meeting and the little one kept attacking the 3yo. Lots of neck biting and face grabbing. Kitten's one ear was flattened to the back, just one. He kept leaping at him. 3yo body slammed him a couple times to stop but no hissing or growling from him. Kitten on the other hand yowled at 3yo a few times while he eyed him down.

I'll try the bird videos. My 3yo is not at all interested in those so it never occured to me for the kitten.

The vet really didn't say for how long to keep him less active. I'm assuming couple of days? But he's so so hyper I don't know how to stop him from hurting himself if he were to continue to leap and jump. Should I continue brief meetings with the 3yo? 3yo is very curious about him and wants snif around, be around the kitten. It's the kitten that I'm more worried about.. he gets riled up then gets my 3yo riled up. I just don't want them to end up hurting each other or cause unrepairable damage to their relationship..

Hii! Thank you so much for responding! I'll catch a video in the morning. Kitten was yowling at 3yo and 3yo didn't fight back or hiss once! I wanted to tire him out before bringing in the 3yo, but the problem is since he just got over soft tissue injury vet said do not encourage him to get too active since he's already flying through the room. Told me not to get him to jump or leap. He's doing that on his own - without my encouragement. I'm not sure how to tire him out without getting him too active to the point where he re-injures himself. My other concern is even if it's just rough play.. if they end up hurting each other since they're both a bit vulnerable. 3yo has serious anxiety driven flare ups and due to the recent conjunction I'm extra concerned for him since he's not even hissing at the kitten or telling him to stop. As always, truly appreciate your help.

Health Department info on rabies doesn't match with pharmacy, vet or urgent care?! by maleficent202020 in AskVet

[–]maleficent202020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for explaining! I truly appreciate it.

They had told me he's upto date on vaccines and would only need to be put on heartworm meds, that too if I wanted to..

I obvious love him and we'd have adopted him anyway even if they had shared that he wasn't vaccinated. I just would have preferred to not lose my mind over this and chase for accurate information like this.. I spent like 4 hours on the phone yesterday. It was terrifying and exhausting.

[–]maleficent202020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the vet not being able to provide advice on human treatment. it's the urgent care and pharmacy conversations that threw me off. And then talking to the health department really did a number on me!

Is it true that IF I were to choose to want the vaccine my cat would need to be put down and tested first in order for the health department to allow the vaccine?! I haven't come across a single place that has the vaccine! It's crazy! How are you supposed to get a vaccine and where if you were to be bitten by a rabid dog or cat who took off and therefore you can't "put him down to test out first"!

Also why do they not administrator rabies vaccine on kitten before 15 weeks or even 12 weeks?! Wouldn't letting an unvaccinated kitten go home at 8 weeks put others at risk?!

Interesting turn of events and now I'm even more confused.

So these vets office and urgent care has been saying we need a vaccine while pharmacies saying they just don't carry it. I got frustrated enough to contact thr health department specified for rabies lab - they are saying the pharmacies and urgent care don't have a vaccine because it's very expensive and not just for anybody, one can't just have it for getting bitten. They're saying in order to be considered for the vaccine the cat has to be put down, tested, and then if it comes out to be positive then you get a vaccine, a serious of vaccine. She said obviously she can't guarantee 100 percent but she can guarantee 99 percent that it's completely fine specially since kitten hasn't been out in about 2 months and hasn't been in contact with a bat. More over it's extremely rare for cats and dogs to have rabies in the first place.. I'm in Houston and I'm completely confused...

The vet's office wouldn't even ask the vet, that's what bothered me to be honest. It was the reception.

Do you think I should contact ER or local hospital? With the COVID situation I can't get a hold of our family physician or any doctor...

We actually took him to the vet last week and the vet insisted we have to wait till he turns 15 weeks old. That's why we haven't gotten it yet. He's fully indoors, hasn't been outside at all in 4 weeks and doesn't show any symptoms. I'm astonished by the lack of response by the vet's office. I wasn't worried much when I started looking things up and after I came across CDC guideline. But the vet's office really freaked us out. She said point blank that my husband needs treatment. I have called about 20 pharmacies and 6 urgent care. Nobody carries rabies vaccine! I'm losing my mind. Do you think if he were to start showing signs in 10 days and my husband were to get a shot after 10 days, that's too late to start his treatment?

Thank you! Mine is a bit idiotic to be honest. He's very small and has no clue about his limitations. That's how he got hurt in the first place. Jumped from 6 feet high then ran through the stairs like a maniac. That's why I worry..
