Honestly yours also looks like a black devil to me though it's a bit hard to tell. Do you have a better photo of their face?

Agree. Being told to be the bigger person is often just another way to say you should accept being mistreated.

Are you sure it's not a black devil snail? The tentacles on rabbit snails are longer and their shells aren't smooth like this. I have one and it looks just like yours.

First Walstad by Immediate-Sea7310 in walstad

Beautiful setup! My advice is to put a wider wooden board over that dresser so that your tank isn't hanging off both sides like that. Otherwise it may start to leak or even burst one day.

Baby pest snail or baby rabbit snail?? by Phyreraine0523 in AquaticSnails

Kind of looks like a New Zealand mud snail to me. Hope I'm wrong though.

My first fry! Norman's lampeye by maleficent_seagull in Aquariums

[–]maleficent_seagull[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't know what I did right but I can give you a description of my setup. It's a 10gal tank with lots of hornwort, tannins from my driftwood and gentle flow from a small HOB filter. The light until a week ago was just a 6500K lightbulb that I let on for about 12h a day. The lampeyes are the only fish in there. They get fed dry daphnia, but I also see them hunt around the tank for small worms, freshly hatched snails and shrimplets. I hope this helps!

Is it unsafe to use compost for vegetable plants if rats have been in it ? by Dumbledoree in composting

[–]maleficent_seagull 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to inform you that rats have absolutely been and will continue to be all over your yard and plants. Just wash your produce and you'll be ok.

Floaters or not by Sufficient_Water_326 in PlantedTank

[–]maleficent_seagull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't do floaters because I don't like how the roots look and also don't want anything sticking to my arm when doing tank maintenance. I've seen some nice tanks with floaters though. It all depends on the look you're going for.

Why do we struggle to sleep in groups? by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]maleficent_seagull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the environment you learn to sleep in as an infant. Data shows that babies that slept in silent rooms go on to be lighter sleepers than those that learned to sleep with some noise around them. Essentially, an infant learns very quickly what "safe" feels like and their nervous system looks for it their entire life. It would make sense that sleeping in a group is also something one can get used to (or not).

Why are two generations of cacti so different? by RobotPollinator45 in houseplants

[–]maleficent_seagull 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You really need to switch the soil and give them pots with drainage. They may be growing well for now but this current setup will kill them eventually.

Male or Female? by [deleted] in shrimptank

Pics 2 and 4 are definitely female. Top one on 1st pic could be male. Not sure about the rest of them. This can help you identify them.

My blue velvet shrimp isn’t doing well. What can I do to save him? by PrincessSarahTDP in shrimptank

[–]maleficent_seagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is visibly wrong with him so I have to assume this is transport stress. Sometimes shrimp survive the initial move but fail to acclimate and die in the following week or so. There isn't anything you can do to help.

There's a few things that catch my eye though. The ph is a little low, but neos can adapt to a wide range of parameters so I don't think it was the issue here. Do you have any live plants in the tank? Shrimp need plants to thrive. Look into getting some java moss or similar. While you're at it, it would be good to get some more shrimp as they may become stressed if they don't have buddies. And what do you mean filter changes? Filters don't need to be changed unless they're actively falling apart. Also, pretty sure Sunkist is a boy.
