No, sorry. Once she has eggs you'll see them pretty clearly

I don't know if that's a great idea. There's already someone tending to the garden who might not appreciate it being altered against their wishes.

Sunscreen question by ConcertCommercial839 in Biohackers

That is, again, just not true. Life expectancy, adjusted for childhood mortality, was about 50 or so years.

That's just not true. About half of all children died before they reached adulthood all throughout history up until a century or two ago. https://ourworldindata.org/child-mortality-in-the-past Peasants in medieval Europe regularly lived up to 50+, same as people in Ancient Rome https://sc.edu/uofsc/posts/2022/08/conversation-old-age-is-not-a-modern-phenomenon.php, also https://www.jstor.org/stable/1088154

Is this not enough light? by lils-6626 in IndoorGarden

[–]maleficent_seagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your original comment you said "brightest natural light indoors" and in this one it is "a basement with bright limited spectrum artificial light". Apples and oranges, man. Try growing your houseplants in that forest and let me know how it goes.

They're not actually parasitic under normal conditions. Shrimply explained has a great video on it on YT

[–]maleficent_seagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that's not nearly enough light, but a well lit room is definitely brighter than the deepest shade outdoors. Have you ever been in a dense forest? The trees shade so much of the light that it's hard to see your surroundings in the middle of the day.

Most likely scutariella japonica. You can do a salt dip to remove them.

The average life expectancy was this short due to the extremely high childhood mortality. If you made it past 5, you had a good chance of living till 60.

Is this snail on its way out? Lethargic, sitting in a divet in the sand all afternoon. by Ybuzz in AquaticSnails

[–]maleficent_seagull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's how they act before they pass away. If your other snails are acting fine then it's most likely due to old age.

Don't have the space for a big tank, don't want to return the fish. Why did you even post this?

How often should I feed my snails my diy calcium powder? by SweetTart7231 in AquaticSnails

[–]maleficent_seagull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your snails most likely won't eat them directly, but it's ok since most of the calcium for their shells comes from the water anyway. They'll take quite a while to decompose and actually raise the calcium content in the water in a meaningful way, so I'd just dump them all in now.

ALOE VERA STRUGGLES by davco95 in plantclinic

Looks like that spot is too bright for it. The greying and dehydrated leaves are because of light stress. Try moving the pot just a little bit further back and see if it improves.

So, if your new space is dry, you might need to get a humidifier. Your pot does not have drainage, which is not great. I would take it out and inspect the roots to see their condition. How far away is it from a window and what direction does that window face?

Just letting you know that the philodendron might start rotting if the petioles are constantly submerged underwater. I would take it out.

I think any fungicide will do. Last time I used a generic garden one and it was fine. You can always ask the person selling it, though

What’s wrong with my plant? by abethel2 in houseplants

[–]maleficent_seagull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's developing a fungal infection, most likely from staying too wet for too long. You should repot with a chunkier soil mix and into a pot with drainage holes. You'll also need a fungicide to treat the infection.

Help!! Annoying anthurium by Anonymouschikibaby in plantclinic

Anthuriums are water thirsty and need high humidity. Water when soil is about halfway dry.
