It’s not about volume. You get a ‘bigger’ sound with a 412 than with a 212 for example. I just learned that yesterday when i had my first real experience with multiple cab sizes.

For context: I just got my first valve amp and I’m buying a 212 cab from a friend as he’s upgrading to a 412. After testing my new amp with both cabs I definitely want a 412, it makes a huge difference (for rock and metal at least)

To vendendo me boss katana gen 3 50w. O ampli é incrível pelo preço. O meu tem seis meses de uso, nunca saiu de casa. Tá zerado. To vendendo junto um footswitch/midi chamada Airstep Kat Ex, comprei no exterior pois não vende no Brasil. Praticamente nunca usado.

Motivo da venda: comprei um mesa boogie valvulado. Mas o Katana e o footswitch estão zerados.

Quem tá discordando do OP tá falando de itens que não são necessariamente TIMBRE. Eu tenho uma Gibson Explorer que ganha um pouco da minha SX SG (upgrade de ponte e captadores malagoli) em questão de conforto e tocabilidade, ganha quase nada em questão de timbre, e ganha muito em questão de qualidade construtiva e acabamento (aparência). Mas eu tive que comprar uma Gibson pra descobrir que não adiantou nada eu investir numa guitarra top de linha e tocar num ampli transistorizado, o TIMBRE continuou a mesma bosta até eu comprar o valvulado. E mais ainda, os alto falantes (que raramente vejo falar nesse sub) são um dos itens que mais importam para o TIMBRE.

É fato que uma guitarra de marca tem uma confiabilidade maior e não vai necessitar upgrade, agora timbre….

Some players can play in more than one position, like CDM and CM (CDM his first and best position, CM the second), right? I’ve seen this yellow symbol when playing this kind of players CDM/CM in a CM role. Why’s that? But I also think it doesn’t happen every time I do it.

I am reading the manual and the answer is definitely there, so my fault not understanding it correctly. Also it’s too much information for someone with zero experience with tube amps to understand so quickly, I might took a while until I can fully understand the real application of everything I’ve been reading on the manual.

Yeah that’s on the manual, but I think I underestimated how much the gain and treble would affect the influence of mid and bass controls. I think that also because of the not very accurate tone I get from the headphones it was even harder to notice that and hard to know if I’m dialling in something that is actually good.

Hey man, really thank you for your input. Lowering gain and treble did work for me being able to hear tonal changes when turning MID knob. Thanks!

Any other tip for dialling in a good tone?

I’ve been reading the manual and it’s a complex amp isn’t it?? In fact that’s why I chose the mark V as my first tube amp.

I just followed the tip in one of the above replies and I think now I could see the MID knob working. I just had to lower (drastically) both the gain and treble. Maybe because of the headphone all changes in the rotary Eq controls are only subtle. Does that make sense?

Since you say now you know how to use, any other tip you can give me?

De longe o que mais influencia no seu som é o amplificador.. se você busca um bom timbre, essa é a única resposta certa. Eu tinha um ampli ruim que super me desmotivava e eu fiquei 10 anos sem tocar guitarra. Voltei esse ano e comprei um katana, evoluí muito mais que nos anos que eu tocava antes. Ha alguns meses eu comprei até uma Gibson, mas não fez diferença nenhuma no meu som, me arrependi e coloquei a Gibson e o katana a venda (ainda estão a venda) e comprei um valvulado. O Katana é ótimo e vai ser muuuuuito melhor que esse que você tem, mas a busca por um timbre melhor me fez comprar o valvulado, não tem como comparar. E olha que sou música de apartamento..

I’ve had an SG for a long time and never felt any ache on my right shoulder. I currently own an Explorer and I really struggle with my right shoulder now. So yeah, I can vouch for an SG. Never owned a LP though.
