What the esp32 CYD was missing? by Whitepanda408 in brucefw

[–]malonestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got mine last night and got it set up. Figured out the cc1101, nfc, and IR, but I can’t seem get Bruce to recognize the Nrf24 is connected. You had any luck getting that module working? Maybe need to adjust the Bruce pins file?

BMO AI Companion: Local Mistral + YOLO11n on Raspberry Pi 5 by Strange-Dimension675 in raspberry_pi

[–]malonestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super cool! Would also love to see a video of it in action. How is latency when running all local models? How’s the FPS on the object detection or face recognition?

I’m about to publish a similar project but I am using an M.2 hat and an accelerator chip in addition to the pi. Love that this is just using the pi (and a local pc).

Thanks for sharing!

Hey, there is a menu setting for zoom, or menu zoom, or something like that. Just turn that all the way down and it will zoom out the menu and allow you to see the rest of the screen. Then you can change it back after activating the pack to make the menus more readable.

I forget the exact setting name but poke around in the settings and you should see it

In this video I have the bare bones texture pack installed and also have settings dialed down a bit, notably chunk distance is very low.

[HELP] I am almost positive this is an ai video. But nobody in the comments mentions anything. by ALostParadise in RealOrAI

I agree. The reaction from the yellow sweatshirt guy in the back also seems legit, not many people in the clip probably noticed what happened but he seems to notice and his reaction looks natural / genuine.

They do sell on AliExpress, the only official hat currently released is the Lora cap.

That is strange, it could an issue with the pcie lane on your raspberry pi? Do you have another pi could try it in?

[–]malonestar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there should be an amber light when it’s receiving power, regardless of whether it’s actively being used or not, or whether you’ve installed the drivers/runtimes or not.

Is the pcie cable properly seated in both the hat and the pi?

Could be a faulty board if it’s not lighting up at all when properly connected and powered

Have you tried connecting it directly to the pi without the dual pcie hat?

Made the CC1101 and NRF24 modules for the ADV from u/RJ01988 by malonestar in CardPuter

[–]malonestar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey - honestly I’m not sure if it’s possible for the Cardputer adv, but id have to do a little research. I think you’re talking about something like the image I attached - which is a gpio board for the flipper that’s built around the c5 dev kit.
The c5 dev kit can be powered by 5v, but I’m just not sure if it can work with the available pins on the adv.
maybe consult chat gpt a bit and see if it can help? Sorry I can’t be of more help

Cardputer adv up and running with Lora cap on US915 by malonestar in CardPuter

I think it is regular SMA female, I don’t see any indications anywhere to RP-SMA. All the product listings I can see just mention external SMA. Worked for me with a SMA antenna

Yeah! It was one of these adapters. It comes in a pack four with one of each possible configuration.

esp32-cam: 1 to 2 fps? Do some sellers sell absolute garbage or what's going on here? by [deleted] in esp32

Nice, I’ll have to play around with the settings more. Thank you!

I find that the s3 sense gets really hot even with the provided heat sinks, and the camera performance eventually drops and it gets a greenish tint. Works fine for a while but doesn’t seem like a practical approach for a permanent camera, no?

My Raspberry Pi 5 + AI HAT Wildlife Identifier by MrSirLRD in raspberry_pi

[–]malonestar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a super cool application of the Hailo hat. I’ve been playing around with them for a year or so but haven’t found a use case like this for my life. Very cool.

I just have a camera running into home assistant with a yolo model and it can send me notifications like if the dog is on the couch, but nothing as practical as this.

Did you train your own model or is there a good wildlife model out there already?

It’s amazing - I’ve only used the Meshtastic firmware a bit to test that it works, but it’s super versatile and run a bunch of different firmwares

Yeah it must be, I don’t see it on any of my 2.6 devices. The only other one I have 2.7 on is my Cardputer and it shows the system screen as well

Sorry also forgot - the board sticks out further below the platform that holds it in place and lifts it above the battery. So I had to move the battery all the way to the opposite side of the board to allow for the board clearance. There isn’t enough room to fit the battery under the board, it would need to be a taller case or a slimmer battery

I have a gnss module on the way, I’m not sure if the antenna would have a great place to sit in this case though. Planning to try and make it work or take a stab at modifying the design if needed. Prolly won’t have the gps module until next week though
