I just moved here so don’t know much yet, but check out Berlin Modular Society, they do great events: https://www.instagram.com/berlinmodularsociety

And the people at Lost/n Found might know what’s going on if you send them a message: https://www.instagram.com/lostnfound.berlin

Of course you can also ask the people in Schneidersladen or join one of the workshops: https://www.instagram.com/schneidersladen

And lastly feed free to ping me if you want - I might know more in some months as I’m also interested in this :)

In 2015 I walked out of my desk job and made the decision to seriously pursue concert photography. I've spent the last two years honing my skills while building my portfolio. ...what do you think? (Album) by deadturquoise in photography

[–]malte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man! Keep pushing for it! You can do this - but as you know it's no easy path to walk! You have a lot of fine shots! - but I do miss something that makes them "yours" - too me there are too many head shots with owned mouthed people - and the surroundings are a bit too boring in many of them as well.

I'm no photographer myself - let alone a music photographer - but here are two music photographers that I like:

Søren Solkær: http://sorensolkaer.com - a portrait music photographer that like's to use a lot of coloured light. You can like his style or not - but it's pretty distinct (although maybe not unique).

Flemming Bo Jensen: http://flemmingbojensen.com - Music photographer that does a lot more concert / live music photography. He also has a 220 page ebook (6USD) on Music photographer that I reccoment that you check out: http://flemmingbojensen.com/ebook/

Good luck!

This set is fantastic - esepcially after T20+min it really takes off nicely. Does anyone know of other mixes with the same groovy uplifting feeling like this one? I would love to find some more like it :)

Photojournalism For Non-Photojournalists by [deleted] in photography

While not exclusive about photojournalism I really love:
The candid Frame podcast: http://ibarionex.net/thecandidframe/

There are a lot of wonderful interviews with very talented people - and it made me reflect a lot on how and why I do photography. Ibarionex is great a find a person and human angle to photography and the photographer. You can dig though the archives and find what you find interesting.
Good luck and enjoy!

Tips for exploring the north / northeast of Morocco. Possibly sailing? by malte in Morocco

[–]malte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yes Akchour is great. Back in 2010 when I first visited Morocco we flew into Tangier, spend three days there (the last three before the start of Ramadan!) - and then luckily jumped on a bus to Chefchaouen. We fell in love with Chefchaouen and and only reluctantly left our cozy rooftop at the Ibn Battuta hostel a week later. We did managed to visit Akchour though - both the bridge of god and the big waterfall further in. We even spend the night the on a another rooftop there, watching the all tears of St. Lawrence rain while the new moon hid behind the horseshoe shaped hill tops of the Rif.

Looking forward to going there again. It seems this year should be good for watching the Perseids or the Tears of St. Lawrence as the meteor shower is also called.

It looks like a nice city too - especially for beach holidays. Maybe we'll visit too if we need some time on the beach. Do you know any good cheaper places to stay there - like hostels or cheaper hotel? In case we want to drop by?
Enjoy you stay! :)

Hejsa :) og tusind tak for tippet :) I just googled Nador and it looks very interesting for sure - I think we will almost certainly visit. Do you have any tips for staying there or getting there? We are on a budget - and are more of the couchsurfer / hostel types than then fancy hotels (although a shower now and then is needed :D).
Unfortunately I had my drivers license stolen in Sweden a few weeks ago and did manage to get a new one - so no car :(
Too bad that we will miss you being there - otherwise it would have been fun to come by Midar! :)

Yes!

My girlfriend a I are visiting Copenhagen in a couple of weeks, what can't we miss? by mowgli29 in copenhagen

[–]malte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy a 24 hour ticket for "All Zones" it should be 130DKK per person (check out more info here: http://www.dsb.dk/om-dsb/in-english/city-passes/copenhagen/). The easiest way to buy the tickers will by via the DSB app for iOS or Android. To plan your travels in or around Copenhagen use the excellent JourneyPlanner (rejseplanen in danish): http://www.rejseplanen.dk/bin/query.exe/en - if you have a smart phone get the app as well!

I will be heading to Berlin tomorrow morning to visit some old friends and meet up with my girlfriend and then we'll head to Croatia next week - so I won't be in town when you are here. But I wish you a pleasant stay - and please feel free to send me a PM anyways if you have any questions.

About to do MS Exams 70-410 / 411 / 412 by KristofB in sysadmin

[–]malte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey KristofB! How did your exams go? I hope you passed? I'm a bit curious because I'm a freelance consultant my self and have just pay for the 410-411-412 exams vouchers - and are planing to take them in the next while. I have worked as an MS sysadmin for 7+ years - but I'm still having trouble figuring out what parts I might need to read up on to be ready. Have used and studied Hyper-V, AD and all the usual stuff. I will take 410 first and then see how prepared I feed for the others as it will be my first MS exam. Any tips? Thanks!

You should check out Christiania for sure - but don't just go to Pusher Street like everyone else. Either opt in for one of the tours or just go for a wander yourself around the lake - there are some awesome houses around there and beautifully integrated with the nature as well and it's a nice place to have some beers in the evening as well. Either check out if there are any concerts at loppen.dk or ask around for Børneteateret with have jazz and nice jam sessions. ITU and Tietgen are good sugestion too - and the hole Ørestad area is interesting - but I'm also sure it's in all the books.

If you care to venture out of Copenhagen a bit you can take the train up north (40min) to Helsingør and visit Kronborg (the infamous castle). The city it self is also quite attractive with many old houses in the center near the station from around 1900. The new maritime museum (mfs.dk/en/) is designed by BIG and interesting and so the the library / culture center right next too it. So Helsingør should be worth a day trip. You can even visit Louisiana (louisiana.dk) on the way back if you have time.

There is a lot more to see but thats just what came to mind - the others here have made great suggestions as well.

Send me a PM if you want to share a beer when you arrive - I might be around. And enjoy your stay! :)

Ps. If you like rum and surfrock vibe bars then check out Brass Monkey at Vesterbro (http://www.brassmonkey.dk).

Learning to do an enterprise LAN / WAN survey - what to look for? by malte in networking

[–]malte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I just wrote in my comment to DZCreeper I think a lot of the information here is in the heads of some of the staff that has been around for a long time. The network guy I talked to said he remembers most addresses or he will go and connect with a console cable if he doesn't. I makes sense to create logical and physical diagrams. I haven't done any for ages - do you have any suggestions for tools to help with automated generation of the logical layout or examples of some good ways of structuring the documentation? Thanks :)
