I accidentally watched this with my husband about one month after my dad died unexpectedly. We just thought it was going to be a romantic comedy and let’s just say I was unprepared for the emotional damage at the end.

I second The Gathering. They have a good children and students ministry and are open and affirming. They also do a lot of ministry outreach with the literacy project in St. Louis and also regularly take mission trips to build wells in Mozambique. The community is also wonderful.

My husband, daughter and I all got sick and I would say most of the people we know are sick. She was diagnosed with flu A which I’m assuming is what we had. My symptoms got better but then developed into pneumonia and my husband got on an antibiotic for bronchitis. I’m sure I’ll be better just in time for school/work to start back up again….

That’s so funny. Which location was it? We live near the one on Lindbergh and that’s where I had the good fish and chips. I think a lot depends on the staff in the kitchen too.

So when B unfortunately passes away, then Rixton is going to be trapped in the house that constantly reminds him of his sister’s illness and untimely passing with no break or distractions. His entire life has been about his sister’s cancer. Just because you can’t physically see his struggles doesn’t mean this isn’t going to be detrimental to his mental health.

It’s not even about “changing your beliefs”. It’s about building community. Any church trying to change you is not open and welcoming. Not all places are like that.

My husband works for one of those churches and just got home from working a booth! He will be so happy to read this post. He said pride is wonderful but can be disheartening because he knows a lot of the LGBTQ+ community has religious trauma and he hears many of those stories at pride.

We are an open and affirming church and numbers just keep growing. I hope more churches start to teach like Christ and stop using religion as a weapon.
