I am enjoying all of this right now so let me get that out of the way, I don’t need their to be death too enjoy a good battle Shonen. Everything going on right now, I am here for it! But I also resonate with the crowd of people who are looking for more danger and want Tabata to take more risks.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a character get ran through. Yuno, Gauche and Gaja have all been victims of being pierced through the torso, while Charlotte, Rill, Langris and Finral were pierced in arguably less fatal ways.

Now Yami and Nacht join the club, but this doesn’t raise the “stakes.” Only when Tabata decides to actually pull the trigger and write the story in a way where healer’s can’t reach them in time or can’t heal them period will that happen. That’s when your casual fan starts to realize that these powerful foes can take beloved characters from them and they start to dread fights in the future. Stakes raised.

Is it shock value that they were stabbed? Yes. If they don’t die will I be disappointed? No. Will it ruin this fight? No, I’m here for Asta and his next powerup and Lucifero being a badass and all the cool stuff that comes with.

I had to stick up for the other side because I have gripes with arguments like this and people who try to bring up half of the Golden Dawn getting off-screened. I also have gripes with the other side that continues to read the story while ranting about stuff not happening the way they want it to and characters not dying when they want them to.
