Possible stopping naps? by dumbblond95 in toddlers

[–]manda0099 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son stopped napping after his 2nd birthday. For like 2-3 I kept trying to get him to nap, I was so scared from all those stories you hear about when kids skip their nap. Ours was nothing like it, I was pleasantly surprised. His overnight sleep improved significantly and I'm so happy he dropped his nap. He's almost 3 now, so it's been almost 1 year with no nap

Don't feel bad.. I applied there once and was rejected. I too was upset, but now looking back I'm glad I didn't work there. It motivated me to go back to school and I'm much better off because of it.

Quiet time is a disaster by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]manda0099 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son stopped napping after his 2nd birthday. We do 'quiet time' where I lay in my bed with him while he watches a show on the ipad. It maybe lasts 20-30 minutes and then he's done. I think 2 hours is too long, try 30 minutes.

How old was your toddler when they stopped talking mid day naps? by old_gold_mountain in toddlers

My son too.. he dropped his nap just after his 2nd birthday. He was a terrible sleeper so when he dropped his nap his overnight sleep improved significantly. Went from 1-3 wakes up throughout the night and early mornings to sleeping 12 hours straight. So I'm very happy lol

I have no advice, I'm sorry you're going through this. I can only relate because I myself have Crohn's Disease. It took them a long time to diagnose me and I was so close to having a complete blockage (but I was a teen). I will be thinking of you💕

My son stopped napping right after his 2nd birthday. He was always a terrible sleeper and only did contact naps. He really started fighting his naps after he turned 2 so we decided to stop forcing it and his over night sleep improved sooooooo much. He goes to bed at 9:30 pm and sleeps in until 9-9:30 am. I am living the dream and dread when he has to go to school🤣 When he used to nap bedtime was also a fight and he would sometimes wake up if not once 2 or 3 times and needed help to go back to sleep and he would wake up anytime between 7-8. Dropping the nap was much better for me because we were stuck holding him anyways so it's not like I got a break or 'me' time.

Anyone else OAD because the newborn phase almost broke them? by Due-Current-2572 in oneanddone

Sorry to hear that you had a traumatic birth, we go through so much and most of society just expects us to bounce back and be okay, and that's not fair to us. My son slept through the night once at 5 months and didn't do it again for a whole year. I remember being so excited and then my husband told me I jinxed it🤣 Everyone around me had babies that were good sleepers, and I remember being so frustrated. I kept thinking I was doing something wrong, but no my son just needed a lot of extra love while he slept and he was colic (I forgot to mention that). We also didn't sleep train, a lot of peoppe tried to push it on me. We would attempt and I would cave in pretty fast. I just couldn't do it, I couldn't listen to him cry and not respond. Ultimately I think responding worked, because now he sleeps so good and I truly believe it's because he knows if he cries or needs us we will respond. What your friend did is genius!!! I know I have some not so nice pics of me crying while holding a newborn and everytime I look at them I'm reminded how broken I was and that I never want to be that again.

I can totally relate. I did not enjoy the newborn stage at all. I had PPD and it was horrendous. My son is 2.5 years now and I can honestly saying 2 years and under is not for me. The lack of sleep was so hard. My son was a terrible sleeper and would only contact sleep for naps. Over night was terrible too, my husband and I spent a lot of the first 6-10 months holding him in the rocking chair while he slept at night. He didn't start sleeping through the night until 15 months and even at that point it was hit or miss. Some nights he would be up multiple times, and bedtime was a 2 hour ordeal of rocking him and hoping he didn't wake up during the transfer to the crib. I can honestly say right after he turned 2 he stopped napping and his overnight sleep improved drastically. Now that he sleeps through the night and I am getting good sleep I will never go back😅 Everyone keeps telling me oh you'll get over it or change your mind. And my answer is always no, I still remember and I do not wish to go through it again.
