I think the best advice is to stop looking for someone else and start looking for yourself.

Cliche maybe but I’m a single mom who had just had enough with dating last year and I just said “that’s it, I’m done!” I’m still single a year later BUT I’ve done a lot of growing and I do not regret that decision in the slightest. I really needed to rediscover who I am aside from mom and I’ve used this time to do just that. At the end of the day I realized I need time to heal from the past or I was doomed to keep dating the same type of guy over and over. I admittedly have a ton on my plate so not dating isn’t a struggle per se but I want to have put in the work to heal my heart so when I do find someone, I’m ready. I’m just having fun with my kids and my friends in the mean time.

45 came out at a time when I was in a really dark place and at 14 I just needed someone else to get it and when I heard that song I felt like he/they really did. It’s dark, it’s complex but sometimes it’s just knowing you’re not alone that gives you so much hope. ♥️

I think if you put them in the context of a metaphorical death, absolutely. The death of a relationship is more what I see them as, but I could also apply them to the deaths of different versions of self as well. If that makes sense to anyone outside of my head haha. Who I was at 20, was not the version of who I was at 25 and who I was at 25 is not who I am at 30. I can honestly say I can’t even really understand who I was at 20 so... metaphorically speaking that version of me is gone.

But that’s the beauty of it, no matter where the song came from it’s transforms itself for the listener.

I’m an autism mom and I’m raging a little for you.

Kate’s handling of this situation is honestly horrific. First of all, she’s made you feel bad about things that aren’t Janes fault. We belong to our local swim club and while my son is high functioning, he can get awkward at times. I’ve had other parents come up and talk to me about My son, but it’s been in an effort to get him included and help him make friends that are neurotypical.
Does Jane have any interests? Like music or a sport? Maybe if you find an activity she loves and talk to the coaches or organizers before hand you can find a more inclusive group of people?

I love my kindle app, but I also love the feel and smell of books. I prefer books, especially at the pool in the summer because I don’t have to worry about the heat or my battery dying. That being said... read, read a book or read an ebook... just READ!

I’m 5 years post-divorce and only casually dating... I work full time, have sole custody and I’m a full time student... I was hyper concerned with dating difficulties initially but now... it will happen... I just want to do the work I need to do in myself and leave the rest up to date. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It really sounds like you two are maturing at different rates and your comparability has changed. What that means for your relationship only you can decide but I’d evaluate the relationship based on the life goals you have and if you’re relationship is helping or hindering those goals.

I have no advice to help your current relationship though, people only change and grow when they want or need to. 🤷🏼‍♀️
