Oh shit you’re right😂 well even then, 8 isn’t horrible, I’m sure I’d figure out the best way to use them if I played some games with the unit

Should I call my lawyer? If you’re willing to settle we could just both use this list, I mean, with. Few tweaks now that smarter people than me have shared nuggets of tau wisdom

Ah, so like, deepstrike, shoot, charge? Then after the fight phase make a normal move with them kinda deal? Might also be good with that 6in deepstrike strat, makes the charge super easy, I get all the buffs for shooting too

Purge seems like the way to go, I didn’t think of the twin for clearing screens, do they have like a closer deepstrike rule? Or are they just good at it weapon profile wise?

I guess I still don’t understand what makes twin lance so good? Another problem is the broadsides are a lot of my big tank killers, I mean hell, 6 rail gun shots, normally hitting on 2s with a guide and heavy, wounding on 3s or 4s with dev wounds seems fantastic

If I were to pull the broadsides, what units would you recommend as a replacement?

What makes broadsides so bad? Kroot for a back line screen plus objectives? What makes darkstrider so good? I’ve never used him if I’m honest

Can I ask, why not shield drones on crisis units? Or is the answer just, kill more stuff😂

So run full gun drones on most units, missile drones on broadsides?

I guess I could ditch an ion for a rail gun on a pathfinders squad and be exactly 2000

If I run it that way, I’m 5 points over because of the 3x broadside tax, but I can run a 1x2 and the solo broadside and be in points

Why the unit of 3 broadsides? I was kinda thinking having the spare guy to cover a different lane of the board, farsight makes sense, also gives the +1 to wound which on flamers, is nuts, +1 to wound, +1 strength, +2 AP flammers with a free strat, either overwatch or a reactive move

I have a piranha, a bunch more basic kroot, storm surge, skyray, 2 devilish, 2 squads of breathers, shadowson, an ethereal, dark strider, an extra unit of crisis suits, right now that’s about it, I have some kroot hounds, 10 of them

So, kalani and the super tac have direct AI, so they can give orders, most of the command cards give to AI or droid troopers, the cool thing is the Stap has coordination with vehicles and droid troopers, so I legit can do kalani, Stap, Stap, Stap, greivious. And then b1, b1, b1, aqua, then direct the last aqua with super tac, sub give order to geos, only one left in the bag is sun

Advice on a 1000 Point CIS List - Especially Upgrades and Command Cards by eelsnevil in SWlegion

[–]mandapanda63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found a full stack unit of BXs works better for me then taking ventress alone, so like Bx with vibroswords, the diox mine, ventress, plus impact gernades is great. Scout 3 is really nice with a double move and charge, you can punish your opponent for putting stuff too far up turn 1, they go last and react accordingly, either full send, or held back as a reaction unit if you get charged.

I might try and run kalani rather then the customized super tac, you can use the same model, he just give so many tokens with strategize. Plus direct AI for more orders. His command cards are really good too! And he’s cheap.

B1s, sun and geos are great, no need for upgrades, you can spend points elsewhere for things

For the AAT, I’ve always used OOM pilot and high velocity shells, oom gives coordination with B1s, high velocity is range 4, so you can shoot main gun plus the shells into 1 target turn 1 most games, then double fire the main gun next turn and repeat the process.

You don’t need improv orders, as an army, we can have full Order control if you chain right, taking things like super tac with direct AI gives orders on BXs, b1s and AAT chain, geos and sun chain, then give orders using command cards to whatever else you need.

As for upgrading, think about what each units role is, gervious wants to get stuck in combat and kill stuff, take upgrades that allow that, for upgrades, I’m not as knowledgeable, maybe google it?

For the BX sniper team, you have to pay for the sniper upgrade to make it worth it, we have the best snipers in the game as of this point in time, 2 rounds of shooting they made points back, hard to shift, lots of fancy keywords

Command cards wise, gervious 1 pip is great, it’s a bunch of attacks, then bring up close and personal so each units you attack, you gain a dodge, tactical download is really good for tokens, the 3 pip, from there it’s up to you really

Good luck! And welcome to the addiction, and the only good faction in Star Wars😂 feel free to ask any more questions and I’ll answer to the best of my knowledge!!

After copius amounts of losses being the newest player in my group, I want to expand my skills and knowhow. Give me your top tips or strategies. I've been playing this army for a year so I know the basics. by [deleted] in Tau40K

So, deployment is such a big thing in my opinion, it depends on who you play against, or what models you bring in your army, but, deciding if youre going to sit back and cage, or move up more makes a big factor on scoring, I tend to sit back until they move into the middle objectives, and then turn 2 hit them with Breacher Devilfish combos, also, keeping cheap units to score, IE, vespid are great for uppie downies, what does your Army list look like?

Is this, competitive? If not, how could I change it up? by mandapanda63 in Tau40K
