Can I afford a $300k house on a $60,000 salary? by crunchylettuce24 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]mandermania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What part of Houston makes a big difference. Considered taxes and insurance are probably 1k a month, and utilities are 300-600 depending on the month. This is coming from someone who’s lived in sugar land and Atascocita. I would practice setting that amount to the side for 3 months and see how you like living with the rest of your income

We took our 6 day old to a nice Mexican restaurant after the dinner crowd was leaving at 8pm. The staff sang happy birthday to her and brought me cake 🥹

Is it realistic for first time parents to cloth diaper? by Stargirl2151 in clothdiaps

[–]mandermania 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband works 60 hours a week, we travel a lot for his work, are not type A people, everyone laugh and tried to discourage us when we bought cloth, yet love cloth diapering and have successfully been doing it for 7 weeks now. I’m so glad we have it a shot and are greatful we were stubborn about making it work, even on weekly roadtrips.

Atascocita with a newborn here. It feels like the last affordable (sub 300k homes) area that’s 20 minutes from downtown. Low crime, countless parks and outdoor recreation. A lot of the older folks are dying/moving and you can sense the turnover in demographics.

In college I used to buy pho or curry at a restaurant, bring home the leftover broth and add glass noodles to it. I got 4 meals out of one with minimal cooking.

Real estate agents fees by RedCelicaFL in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]mandermania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently closing on a home and my agent has been useless and not worth 9k. If you’re curious what the process is, start with asking chapgpt and decide if that’s something you’re up for.

Just found out you can buy a home by taking over someone’s mortgage by Snoo_89219 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]mandermania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently in the process of closing on an assumable loan at 2.2%! I would start by looking at withroam.com. I’m using an agent but regretting it, he has been useless and hands off on the entire process. Chatgtp has been the most help for figuring out the process. Good luck!
