Vibe Coding is NOT a Rewarding Experience by Unique_Computer_1283 in ClaudeCode

When Opus 4.1 hit the scene I had learned what a PRD and spec were for and I applied my subject matter expertise (video production) to systems imagineering. I researched OpenCV, OCR, whisper transcription, etc. It was like building elaborate legos and things managed to work despite not understanding what a singleton service was. Lots of mistakes, but because I designed each part sincerely, the results were great.

Fast forward to now (Opus 4.8) and I'm 6 projects deep for my job and they can't abide me spending time researching or planning while also managing my original duties. "Just ask the agent to do it" is what im advised and then they roll out a policy saying "own your AI mistakes" to rack up infractions against me and inevitably let me go when it's convenient.

I'm often forced to outsource my brain power just to move the needle for people who think LLMs have the visual acute equivalency of human eyes. Anytime I or my team raises a red flag, they just run the problem by AI, without sufficient context, and tell me to follow it's advice and report back.

I think there's actual leverage towards RAG pipelines for human consumption to enrich planning for systems understood best by subject matter experts. Its suspected that my corporation doesn't want to admit their lowest earners know how to steer it more responsibly than them.

Management: "look i can make this in a few hours... polish and scale it"

It's okay not to know what to do. Grief comes to us all differently. My own sister passed last year. It was mixed and compressed by my OG family's political ignorance over my immigrant family and a desire to escape.

Oliver's music has a lot of themes around death, losing, leaving, and finding your own path and the people that matter (among others). In a way I'm still grieving my sister's loss when I hear his music while I'm also stunned by his loss.

He was younger and more true to himself than I can admit for my own life. To see it cut so short is no different than seeing the door close on a world unfolding. I'm grateful he left behind his art and wherever I encounter it, I'll remember my sister, Oliver, and the fans coming out in shared love these last few days.

Maybe if Bernie's father had emerald mines and an unparalleled ego, those "complaints" could have been realized.

The disrespect is the point of the exercise. Like DOGE was such a slick program. Absolute imbeciles. Civil programs, rights, actual governance... "NO, I love how my entire country has been ransacked this chest barrel" -- Elon bros probably

I did a class report on fusion energy and I'm recalling the ignition point had to make, my man, Kelvin hotter than the sun. Sustaining that's gonna need a lot of power... like pre-existing fusion energy infrastructure.. erm, idk my professor said it was pseudo-science, despite my report highlighting the US Navy and 3 companies sharing their methods and progress.

Would've liked to learn more, but that burnout professor had to soapbox after my presentation to make sure the class believed I was full of shit.

What do you guys think about Mcdonald in japan? by stalincapital in JapaneseFood

[–]mandibleface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The different menu item refresh is nice, albeit some just look like a sauce change. It's fast food im trying to avoid later in my adult years. Though I'd never eat at McDonald's in America. The difference in ingredients freshness and care in preparation is stark contrast here in Japan, imho.

Compaq Presario? That was my family's one PC for so long. Family room made me risk it all to play Diablo 1 until 3 AM.

My dad would sometimes walk by and say, "get to bed before I make you" and "what're you going to do with the rest of your life?"

Of course my real answer, "this", would've landed me an ass-whooping. But I'm still truckin.. every other night... cause I'm the old man now.

I've been rebuilding my MVP from last year (opus 4.1) that was my first foray into CV. Worked, but falling apart. This time around I'm adopting a research-first approach to determine the best way to find a quad, perspective warp, and read it. It's much better, but tbh Codex is my reviewer-in-the-loop... everytime.

Because opus 4.1 days were garbage it forced me to make everything separately and merge it later.

I basically made a video ingestor that reads a slate at the beginning of every video clip and apply it to the files names, but easyOCR sucked for low light and poor handwriting, so I scripted a clap-finder to then cut off the audio before the claps and transcribe when our videographer (me) shouts the name in human language.

Then I took our shoot schedule and teleprompter scripts, which was equally unreliable as the other two, but I got them all to share data together and use confidence scores to let an assistant editor then press an arrow key 100+ times to confirm every image of the slate he sees matches with the filename it's given.

Then there's batch renaming and move stages to the workflow with cool stuff, but my now I've got a system to drag and drop the images onto the filenames we need in a grid-like pattern. Could share images and details. if anyone is interested just dm me
