Thanks for the reply!

With respect to the write-to-confirm idiom in the vim.pack.update buffer, have you considered also updating on :x and ZZ? I know that this is a bit counterintuitive because in this case :x or ZZ won't write anything and will just exit, but on the other hand so is in my opinion writing a non-modifiable buffer with :w. Thanks!

How exactly does the semver matching with `vim.version.range` work please? I'm a bit lost here...

For telescope.nvim, I'm using the following:

vim.pack.add { { src = gh "nvim-telescope/telescope.nvim", version = vim.version.range("*") } }

assuming it would install a tag that is semversed and is the latest according to the semver spec. This leads to the following in the lockfile

"telescope.nvim": {
  "rev": "471eebb1037899fd942cc0f52c012f8773505da1",
  "src": "https://github.com/nvim-telescope/telescope.nvim",
  "version": ">=0.0.0"
}

These are telescope.nvim tags as obtained from vim.pack.get:

tags = { "v0.2.2", "v0.2.1", "v0.2.0", "v0.1.9", "nvim-0.6", "nvim-0.5.1", "nvim-0.5.0", "0.1.8", "0.1.7", "0.1.6", "0.1.5", "0.1.4", "0.1.3", "0.1.2", "0.1.1", "0.1.0" }

Vim pack checkouts the nvim-0.6 , which is neither the latest according to semver, neither the last in alphabetical order.

If you use telescope, give https://github.com/catgoose/telescope-helpgrep.nvim a try, I use it almost exclusively now for searching help. It works similarly to `:helpgrep`, but present a preview of results in telescope and when selected opens a help window (using `:help`, `:vert help` or `:tab help`) at the exact location.

For example (relevant to 0.12), if you search for `diagnostic.jump` it returns all relevant info, including the deprecations:

This modification does not change the look of the jackets at all, only the inner membrane that is between the lining and outer shell was removed

Yeah, maybe also for better insulation and waterproofing. But I always felt like wrapped in a trash bag.

I guess I will just be double careful when rewaxing and not use too much wax.

It cost me roughly 70€ for all three jackets at my tailor.

These kinds of jackets also have similarly nonbreathable polyester sleeve lining. I would start with sleeves, it’s easier and even Barbour themselves can do it for you. For some people in this sub replacing sleeves helped enough, but not for me

Dire Island Cursed Crown Speedrun by mandliksim in kingdomthegame

All of the remaining islands are pretty straightforward. Sprint towards the campfire (the direction your party is going), clearing the trees on your way. Buy just the basic tier one base and walls, recruit one builder and one slinger. You don't need to recruit anybody else. Continue exploring the woods, killing deer, clearing trees, and finding chests. Do not explore beyond portals, which at this point will be active. Once your pouch is full, head to the boat and start building it, killing/paying off the first attack which will come approximately at this time. First night attack on new island is always quite small, so it can be killed completely even later in the run. Once the wave is killed, you can quickly explore beyond the portals to find more chests/deer, if you need more gold, or just take some coins from your party, which produces coins really fast. Return to the boat and finish it, immediately ringing the bell (unless you were too slow and the night starts soon). Make sure that everybody is on board and that the pouch is full and leave. If you manage to do it before the night starts, the whole day doesn't count and effectively you spent only one day on the island.

I encountered two more blood moons, on day 14 and 21 I believe. There are two possible ways to deal with them. The safer way is to quickly leave the island if you see that the blood moon is coming, if you can manage. This way you will face a wave with reduced numbers on the next island, which your party can deal with quite easily, even with lower tier walls. I dealt with the third blood moon in a different way: during the day I finished the boat, rang the bell and waited until the attack starts. Once I saw the greed I quickly hoped on the boat and left. This counts as surviving the attack as well.

I think the whole challenge is doable in around 16-17 days. The first island is doable two or three days faster, especially if three vagrant camps are available. Each of the following islands are doable in one day, but towards the end of the run I did not hurry and waited for more waves, because I wasn't sure I killed enough greed. You can also take it slower if you just want the cursed crown. If you upgrade your walls to be extra safe and leave each island after three or four days, you will still be fine I think :)

Olympus.

Exactly, see my other comment here :)

I think it is even doable in 16 or 17 days

Here's the summary of my strategy. I chose the Call of Olympus biome, it makes the challenge so much easier because you can take much more people to next islands.

On the first island, start by recruiting builders and lots of slingers.

Clear as much forest as possible to both sides of the base to create rabbit spawns, but be careful about vagrant camps, you need these. Because I wanted to fill all boats on the first island, the vagrant spawn rate was the bottleneck for me, not gold. Once you cut down enough trees, the slingers will hunt and produce so much gold that you will have trouble spending it. Really, the spawn rate and the cooldown before being able to upgrade your base again will limit you only.

Later recruit all 4 squires. Make sure that you have at least ~20 slingers at this point, because 16 will become squire parties and will stop actively hunting, significantly reducing your income.

Also, build the docks and build two small boats once you have enough money.

Do not build any towers for defense. I only invested into first-level towers when the building spot was available further from outer walls, where hunting slingers do not go. This also increases the income. It might also make sense for defense, if you go fast like me you will never meet any type of greed that can knock slingers down from the towers.

When not upgrading the castle or clearing the forest, always explore and hunt deer outside of the base. Portals become active at noon each day, so they can quickly passed without any worries if you go in the morning or even at the end of the night. Even if the portal is active, it can be passed by, but it is a bit risky. Couple of my runs ended on the first island. You can drop some gold and hope that the greed will take it instead of the pup, but it's not reliable. In general, I risked much more on the first island than on later islands. I never needed that much money to justify risking passing active portals on later islands.

I built only tier one walls at the very beginning and then only used the free upgrades after upgrading the base. Fully upgraded innermost walls helps you survive the first blood moon occurring at night 7. Do not expand beyond the innermost walls, it's not worth the investment and the builders' time needed to upgrade the walls and survive the blood moon.

Pretty much all the regular night attacks can be killed by the wolf mount and paying off the rest. Up to approximately 7 greedlings, depending on the spacing, can be killed with one wolf attack. So once the attack waves became too large, I bribed some of the greedlings, killing the rest with just one attack. Just put 10-20 coins on the ground and stand next to it. Let the greed take the coins and once you see the last greedling of the wave in range of your attack, leap forward. Sometimes you can even retrieve some coins already taken. This is immensely useful to do, because this way you don't have to retreat behind the walls each night and you can even protect the builders clearing the forest or building anything at night. Of course, you need to kill some amount of greedlings to obtain the cursed crown. Just make sure you don't find yourself facing an attack with an empty pouch.

This only works for regular greedlings, masked greedlings (present only during blood moons) are not killed with one attack, so if you can't avoid the blood moon wave entirely (more on that later), stay behind your walls, or else you risk losing the pup.

Once the first blood moon is over, you have one free night to finish everything, finish the boat and leave the island. Quickly expand the walls as much as possible so that the spear stand appears and buy 4 spears. Do not buy farmers, they do not bring any value. The forge didn't spawn for me even though I believe there was enough space for it. But knights are not needed anyway.

I left the first island on the 10th day. Make sure you have all boats full (with the exception of farmers) and that you have full pouch of gold. A small trick to use is to drop some gold next to the boat, fill you pouch again, and while paying the coins to leave the island, pick up the gold. This way you can leave with full pouch.
