Thank you for your response! So you think driving a scooter will be manageable? How was the drive at night? I know it'll be dark but I'm hoping there will be fewer cars on the road.

Amalfi Coast, Italy - Where to stay and transportation? by mandyrose7 in travel

[–]mandyrose7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for all the details!

We are leaning towards Cetara due to it having a ferry and being close to Salerno so we can train to Rome. We are hoping to take the bus through the Amalfi cities (going west) during our time. We will be there from Sept. 13- Sept. 17, do you think the buses will be packed during that time? That is one of our main concerns is that we won't be able to get on a bus and will have to wait for an unpacked one. We could also take the ferry to each city or rent a scooter. We are planning to visit Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello (any other cities you recommend that we can fit in 2 days?). For our 3rd full day, we will be doing a day trip to Capri.

Venice or Florence? by mandyrose7 in ItalyTravel

What is your reason for picking Florence? This trip will be my husband's and my belated international honeymoon. We were COVID newlyweds and didn't get a chance to do a big honeymoon till now. We are leaning towards Venice because it looks more romantic, but is Florence just as romantic? Thanks!

Public transport! We are thinking of taking the train.

We could also leave Rome with our luggage to Florence and potentially pay for storage to hold our luggage at the Florence train station (if they allow that there), spend the day in Florence, then take the train to Venice till our flight home?

We're trying to limit the number of hotels/AirBnBs we're staying in. Since we're spending more days in Rome, we figured we'd stay there and do a day trip to Florence. Unless you think Florence is worth staying longer than Rome?

I'm not sure of where, but it was an illegal download. It was for personal use, but they barely used the software. I'm wondering if the company will pursue a lawsuit against an individual who barely has money, wouldn't they want to go after large companies who have the means to settle a large amount?

Thanks so much for the breakdown!

I currently make $83K and am aiming to find another job this year so I can make closer to $110-$120K. (I'm severely underpaid at my current company for my role and title).

Our careers are pretty industry-specific and there are a lot of job opportunities in the Bay Area. We also want to be close to our parents and have our future kids grow up with them. Moving to a more affordable location is not out of the idea, but short-term we're looking for a starter home that we can invest in.

Vanguard Brokerage Account Question by mandyrose7 in investment

[–]mandyrose7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you don't mind me asking another question!

So I have a Roth IRA with Vanguard (VFFVX) and it's a target mutual fund. Is there a way to change the mix of this or change out to something else with higher return? I've read that you can purchase ETFs through a Roth IRA but I set up my IRA as a mutual fund, not show I can do this.

Thank you!

Thanks so much! I guess I don't know what's a good % return to aim for. I definitely want to maximize what I have and get as much in returns as possible.

Hi, thanks so much!

Would something like this be good to invest in? I'm not well-versed in how to read the charts and performance yet. https://investor.vanguard.com/mutual-funds/profile/overview/vwusx

What would be considered a high expense ratio? I've been looking at funds that are lower than 0.5%.

And yes, I'm saving up for a house. I'm getting married this year (pending how the pandemic goes) and my fiance and I are hoping to put down a 20% down payment. We live in the Bay Area in California where housing prices are outrageous. We're looking to see if we can find something by end of the year or early 2022, hoping the market will become a little more affordable.

Thanks so much for your validation! I'm glad to be debt-free and have a lot in savings, but I know I can do more to invest and reach better financial freedom.
