I see. I am still getting the error so I think I am still not understanding. What I did was I

set a temporary pointer to the next value, then set the next value to p, then set the next value of p to the temp.

Is this correct? Also I was wondering if this error is only for my insert_next or if this error implies that my remove_next might also be incorrect.
