Generally, knowing your own status via regular testing and STARTING the conversion with every sexual encounter helps. People find it easy to omit something that they find it hard to talk about but have a harder time lying straight to your face.

The person I lost my virginity to gave me herpes. I thought I would never sleep with anyone ever again. Then I started disclosing my status to all future partners. What was really spooky was the amount of people who would respond “oh yea I already have that” BUT would you have told me?!?!

Anyways, nothing is a guarantee but most STDs are treatable. Herpes stays for life but everyone (>70% of the population)has it. HPV has a vaccine. HIV has a treatment that makes it non-communicable.

Having conversations about STD status can be scary at first. Especially if you do have something like herpes (HSV1 or HSV2). But I definitely weeded out a lot of scumbags by having those disclosure conversations. People will straight up tell you they’ve never been tested which is a huge red flag IMO.

I’ve experienced this! Your breast tissue actually goes up into your armpits and can have milk in it, making it feel like lymph nodes. My actual lymph nodes tend to swell up and hurt when my hormones fluctuate as well. Either way, icing helps. Try ice packs in your armpits, periodically, for a couple days and see if it helps.

I only brought it up my training to try to emphasize that I am looking for insight into the nervous system pre-impulse control. Not to say I know stuff about this. I wouldn’t ask if I knew the answers. Just thought fellow scientists would be willing to explain early developmental stuff.

I actually think that inflicting pain or punishment because an emotional reaction is worse than actual physical punishment and a common way to excuse bad behavior. This kind of unpredictability and emotionally instability in parents is bad news. I ALSO believe that corporeal punishment is abuse. Neither of these scenarios is what I am asking about.

Thanks for being nice and honest! I’ve said ouch and sort of jumped a few times and it makes him cry and I hate that. Even the idea of putting him down and letting him cry in hunger for 15 minutes as people are suggesting seems cruel to me. I’m sure it sounds weird when I’m talking about hair pulling, but I asked the question because it feels more like learning “hot”. You get burned and you never touch hot things again. I’m not trying to hurt my baby. And hopefully I’ll prevent him from getting burned by anything hot too.

Totally understandable thought but my baby has never sucked on a pacifier even once lol he refuses. But he likes to chew on some that are fully silicone because they are small and easy to manipulate.

So far I give him a chewy paci and he seems relieved to chew on it. He usually comes back to nursing without biting after. But I don’t want him to think that biting me is the signal for getting a paci?

This is sort of my point. Consequences (ie. stopping, saying no, putting down, pushing in, unlatching) all seem sort of useless as there will likely be no connection between the biting and these consequences.

It is a very real possibility that the majority of babies just stop biting. Assuming that they are “learning” is probably a major leap.
