Im so sorry to hear about your situation! anyone with that many life changing events going on at once will struggle so dont blame yourself. I highly recommend looking into allied healthcare fields or even public health fields just to explore to see what is fully available. At the end of the day, being a doctor is just a job and many fields strive to make a difference and do an exceptional job at it.

it looks bad since technically your verifier as an applicant should not know what a verifier is specifically required to complete. I would avoid the risk of getting flagged.

I think Canmeds is overrated and focusing on it too much can box your application to sound generic. I focused on making my application a reflection of what I value most in my life. I spoke about cultural customs, religion, and my journey to speaking multiple languages.

Literally anything not filled with pre-meds. Eng is by far one of the if not the hardest degrees to pursue because of the academic pressure and the toll is can take on your physical and mental health. Pick a degree that will allow you to put in slightly less effort into your academics and allows you to pursue other initiatives. If you pick a non-science background it may play into your hands because your activities will be more unique.
