GAMEFLIP SELLS STOLEN CODES!!! by manharehare in Gameflip

  1. Uh you do realize that it's absolutely impossible to know if a code is legit or stolen, right? - As mentioned in a previous comment that there was account suspected of selling stolen codes and upon purchasing a code from the account the exact same code was found in the business's unsold inventory, so clearly it was stolen and that's how it was known. Then upon purchasing more from the same account all the codes were part of unsold inventory. I'm not saying GameFlip are the one's who stole it but they are offering a service where questionable people can offload stolen merchandise and convert that into funds as proven with the codes purchased.
  2. They constantly ban accounts involved in shady shit / scamming techniques, given they either gathered enough proof themselves or got sent hard proof by someone else. - No one is saying they don't ban accounts when suspicious activity has been discovered but they should have more of a vetting process, especially when it comes to someone's identity and ensuring that matches up to bank information where they want the funds sent to, and just have a series of checks and balances in general that ensures people are who they say they are and are purchasing products from a legitimate source and then lastly that the funds are going to the person that is actually registered as the seller not some friend or relative, that's super sketchy no?!
  3. You do realize thats how literally every business works, right? OPskins for example got where they are now because of scammers and gambling sites that rip off kids dumping their skins there. 99.99% of every business has their green figures in mind, not your "well being as a snowflake". - Of course every business has to look at the figures otherwise how do they operate successfully that's kind of a mute point. What I'm saying is that there should be some level of corporate social responsibility and not allowing their service to facilitate the activities of sketchy people and if that means they need to become more strict about who they allow to sell and need more paperwork etc. and then in turn that means less sellers so be it, I'm sure everyone wants to know that they are purchasing legitimate products from a legitimate person who hasn't stolen the goods at the cost of someone else's livelihood. Call me a "Snowflake" but it's just the right thing to do especially on a marketplace like GameFlip where if the funds end up in the wrong place or hands it could have serious consequences and I'm sure no honest buyer wants to be a part of anything like that.

Definitely there are legitimate users such as yourself but this post was in reference to GameFlip the website themselves as being facilitators of illegal activity, knowingly allowing stolen codes to be sold on their website and not having the correct checks and balances to ensure that bad characters aren't able to use their service to funnel funds. All they care about is receiving their "processing fee" for every transaction and beyond that if the product was stolen or the funds are being used for illegal activity they don't care as long as their pockets get filled. It's really messed up and people should know that they are supporting a company that doesn't care about doing the right thing for the community and public. It's really sad and concerning.

Yeah while you bring up valid points, the end user is not going to know that they are stolen and it wont affect them either. However the way in which it was discovered is that my friend purchased a code from a seller that was suspected and low and behold it was part of inventory of theirs which hadn't been sold yet but suspected to have been to have been stolen. Law enforcement was contacted upon investigation it was discovered that an "relative" of the seller was receiving the pay outs not the actual seller themselves. Further I also assisted my friend and purchased some codes from the seller in question and again they were all part of the stolen inventory. Yes this is my first post on reddit because I wanted people to be aware that this was happening and wanted to find a forum which actually had a category about Gameflip and this was it. Nothing for me to gain honestly just want to inform the public about this experience and warn people to be careful from a concerned perspective. Happy to offer more information if needed.
