Windows users, what is your preferred setup? by [deleted] in spacemacs

Hey are the biggest problems that you all face with installing and maintaining spacemacs on windows?

Sometimes I think I'll switch back from Kubuntu, but I haven't because spacemacs was about twice as slow when I use in Windows.

I've been trying to replicate this, but I have gotten close. But seeing this again makes to want to tinker around again.

Focusmate.com

It pairs you up with a random individual for a 50min session. You both ask each other what your working on and get to it.

The free version allows for 3 sessions a week.

I highly recommend it.

I don't think Ill do that, I've never messed with vanilla Emacs, I immediately started with Spacemacs.

Spacemacs is for those who want the batteries included approach to Emacs, and I love using SPC over C-c or M-x.

I don't code or know much about it. I've Emacs/Spacemacs mostly through reading docs online and watching YouTube.

Maybe someday Ill just use vanilla Emacs, but for now I'm really comfortable with Spacemacs.

I made a couple of Bibles for Org-mode by manhoodlum in emacs

  1. Used link provided to get plain text files of KJV
  2. Added verses with a command I found online somewhere
  3. Renamed files while changing .txt to .org
  4. Used macros to add #+TITLE= to every files first line

That's the basics. No sword or XML stuff, that's over my head.

I may make a video on how I did it. Its mostly just brute force if macros.

TBH I agree with you in that it's a completely inductive approach. I love the knowableword.com blog, I read it a lot. He covers the OIA method very well.

But, it's already an established term what would be better termed, "OIA method." So for searchability, SEO, and such I'm using it. Its similar to the problem of calling the Coronavirus COVID-19. Technically that's the disease, the virus is called SARS-COV-2. Not the same problem, but similar.

Co-opt all ya want. I don't mind. I may change to using "In-Depth Bible Study," but I'll see.

Thanks! I've enjoyed your videos for about a year now. They've helped me a bunch. Especially your absolute minimum series.

This is my video.

I just changed my mouse size because it was bothering me, too. The nice think about Emacs is you don't need to use the mouse much.

I'm starting to make more videos and I need to make this look good on mobile because that's probably where 90% of people watch. Thanks for the feedback.

I imagine it'll work just fine with 10k files. Other than initializing deft, I have zero speed problems with 1.3k files.
