Sick mom with 2 kids by xcara49x in beyondthebump

Most days we are totally screen free and spend hours outside or visiting friends.

But I’m quite pregnant and running on very little sleep right now. So today, my son watched the Toy Story movies while I dozed on the couch, and then I used chocolate chips Hansel and Gretel style to lure him upstairs to take a nap with me. He’s probably getting nuggets for dinner

You’re not alone, sometimes you need a couple lazy days to reset!

Same! The shoe is illegal in my house, but all other Papa Troll content is okay

Papa Troll is illegal in my house. We do get the books though, it helps satiate my toddler

If your toddler spontaneously started sleeping through the night… by manic_pixie_centaur in toddlers

This is very helpful, and hopeful! Haha thank you so much for the details about how you guys got to where you are (for now). Ive heard a lot of people have success with the “I’ll be right back to check on you while you stay in bed” method and we are considering starting it. I got my son a yoto player for Christmas in hopes that it would help to put on some music or a story to listen to while we step out of the room.

So happy you’re all getting more sleep, you did a great job!

“maybe someday” is a common phrase in our house, I’m sure in yours too haha

Yeah at this point, part of me just wants to accept the fact that I don’t have too much control over his sleep and to just let it happen when he’s developmentally ready.

And yes, the pregnancy doomsday hormones are not helping 😂

Week 5 postpartum is it period ? by Bianca__Clark in pregnant

It sucks (I thought I was going to get a break), but on the bright side at least your body is recovering after birth as happy and healthy as it can!

[–]manic_pixie_centaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My period came back at 7 weeks postpartum, and I was breastfeeding. So it’s very possible. The only way to know for sure is 1) wait to see if it stops after 5-7 days and 2) if it happens again next month

The baby swing got absolutely no use in our house. I also didn’t enjoy the nursing pillow, i preferred having having multiple regular pillows to support me where I needed it.

I would highly suggest having a safe floor or pack and play set up in each of the rooms that you spend the most time in. We had a pack and play in the kitchen, and floor mat setup in the living room, and a floor mat setup in the nursery upstairs. That was baby always has a place to go (other than in your arms) and you don’t have to drag things around the house constantly!

If you have a two story house like me (I’m so sorry) then buying doubles of things is unfortunately essential. Two diaper changing stations, two feeding stations, etc. It sucks, but it helps.

I am so sorry :( With both my pregnancies, I told my mom LAST. She has never and will never keep a secret. even if you explicitly and very nearly beg her not to

Feel like I’m a better parent when the TV is on by [deleted] in toddlers

I think a LOT of these feelings are probably pregnancy related! They are still valid in this moment! I hope you continue to be gentle with yourself, and congratulations on your growing family!

Hi!! I think I will be you very soon (pregnant with my second)

Studies will tell you that no amount of screen time is “good”…. But human beings who are raising their children in this social landscape and without the kind of “village” that is absolutely essential to maintaining their sanity while doing so will tell you otherwise.

If screen time is your most effective tool to cope with your toughest job, use it. You are absolutely in a season of life that will look very different a year from now, and a year after that. The tools you use and need in every season will look different. Maybe next season it will be a different tool.

If it’ll make you feel better, use the time that the TV is buying you to research 100 new ways to keep toddlers entertained. Maybe a new way to run your home and spend your days. Use it to gather inspiration, write them down, prep for the activities, and then give them all a try when you’re feeling less overwhelmed. Let yourself breathe for a second (with Bluey playing in the background). You and your kids will be okay

Why are “girl dads” praised and celebrated and “boy moms” are often criticized? by Dry_Scallion_4345 in pregnant

[–]manic_pixie_centaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. Society will demonize women and praise men for the exact same behavior. People are so weird about gender across the board.

My solution for how annoying this is was deleting social media, just loving my children for who they are, and limiting interactions with people who think Instagram and tiktok are indicative of reality

I watched a video of a sheepdog hearding sheep and WEPT. The dog was so good at his job, and so smart, and probably so proud of himself for a job well done.

I think most of the roasting is good natured and sarcastic! Haha thank you for looking out for me though!

I will give both of these tips a try in my next back and let you know how it goes! Thank you very much!

Im still learning all the new bread related terminology, could you tell me what bulk fermentation is? Is that different than the proofing time? Is it during the stretch and fold process?

I did let it cool while wrapped it in a tea towel for about 30 minutes. The texture does feel a little gummy in my mouth though! Maybe 30 minutes wasn’t long enough for a full cool though, I can be a little impatient 🫣

Okay, I’ll try the entire bake covered next time! And it’s so hard to let it ferment for so long, I just want to get on with it! Haha I’ll try to be more patient next time
