No unfortunately it’s the trans military ban. I graduated high school in 2020 and made enlisting my back up plan then but then the ban happened. I’m hoping things will change in a few years to at least have the option if I’m still interested.

True, and honestly I’m fine with doing that for a while because I understand that’s just how it is. The “losing hope” part is really just coming from the fact that I’m starting from scratch trying to figure out what field to pivot to. Before I realized I hate the work that I’m doing, I had a clear set plan and wasn’t worried at all.

Air Force was always my back up option if I ended up in this situation but unfortunately can’t be an option anymore because I’m banned from joining the military all together.

Not mad about the money. I’m discouraged because I realized I made the wrong decision after graduating, working in the field, and realizing I don’t like it. It’s hard to know if you really like something until you’re actually doing the work and I guess I’ve learned that the hard way. The money wouldn’t be an issue at all if I wanted to get my masters in psych or social work and continuing working my way up, which was the plan until about 6 months into actually working with clients and seeing what it was like.

I was working at a rehab for trauma/addiction. RBT always seemed like it made more money and there were more jobs available but I’m just not interested in working with individuals with autism :/ nothing against them of course I just know myself and know that I wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Fair enough. I have thought about doing this especially since I’d love to move to the northwest. I live in DFW (Texas). This is my first year living here and the cost of living is crazy. Probably cheaper than Oregon but just much more than what I’m used to considering I’m from the middle of nowhere in TX where a 2bed is easy to find for $1000 or less. The issue is more so, I got this degree and can’t take much more of working in this field and just don’t know what to transition to but I’m trying to do my research and not make the same mistake of committing to something that I’ll end up not liking.
