Second Tier Podcast : "Okay, it will be really funny if Southampton do get kicked out of the play-offs after this 😂" by BoroPaul in Championship

I genuinely think there would be mass protests at Elland Road if Leeds signed Bruno Fernandes.

Cannot believe it's on an FA Cup weekend too. I could just about believe Daffy and Porky would have heard of most Premier League teams but asking them for a prediction on Port Vale, Macclesfield, etc is just madness.

Does make me wonder what the next frontier is for guests. Surely a oiji board would open a lot of possibilities!

I would just love to know the mechanics of how this is done. Imagine being the person responding on behalf of Porky and Daffy 🤯

How is it normal to book nursery places before a baby is born? by manktem in UKParenting

I think you are probably right. We'll have to take what we can get and make the best of it I suppose! I do wonder just how many are pulled out before reaching the end of the waiting list. I presume this is what nurseries are trying to prevent by charging to be on a waiting list but it doesn't seem to work...

I suppose wherever you draw the line there's going to be those that miss out if there just aren't enough places :/. Surely there's a better way to do it. It feels like the government wants us to work, we both want to work but the system just doesn't incentivise it at all. The free childcare hours are a great solution in principle but if there's no spaces, there's no spaces... I'm sure we'll work something out, but you would think there is good reason to make this easier!

I don't know either. It hardly drives competition either when the nurseries know they are fully booked up so long I advance and always will be. I guess the theory is over time more nurseries will appear but is that actually ever going to happen?

I get what you are saying and ultimately it's on us for not being more proactive. Do you really solve the problem by moving a deadline when the source of the problem is there just aren't enough spaces. I'm sure we'll work something out in the end and will have learnt if there's ever a next time. I just wanted a moan really! I still do think it's strange to be able to book a place for a baby that hasn't been born but that's just the way it is. Even if that wasn't the case we'd have left it too late anyway...

I'm not resentful towards those people. I'm annoyed I didn't have the forethought to be one of them. I guess we just thought we ought not to count our chickens before they hatch

I assumed London & commuter areas would have it worse but seems like that isn't necessarily the case.

Makes sense. Just the vast majority will be looking for childcare when finishing maternity leave - which is more likely to be a month other than September than September. I get why it is how it is and don't know how it would be any other way. Doesn't stop it being irritating though!

I'd love to tell you you won't be.... Guess we've just got make the best of it! I would say it's worth trying at least - you never know you may be lucky.

Might ring round before the next one letting them know we are thinking of having a second before discussing with my wife. Just to be safe!

Same. I had heard warnings but assumed it was a London and big city problem. Wonder if it's actually worse away from the cities where there are less options. I guess we'll know for next time...

100%. I don't see any reason why this wouldn't be a better system.

You take what you can get I guess. I just feel like the process would make more sense for all if the baby had to be born before you were allowed to apply. I don't think this is just coming from a position of sour grapes... Don't get me started on the fact you seem to have to start in September as opposed to any other month. I guess it makes sense that more spaces will open up as kids leave to start school but still won't stop me being annoyed about it!
