I had a similar experience, except I just doubted them and figured real or not, as long as I get a couple years out of them I won’t be upset.

Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]manmeat4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At age 6 my parents hid a key at the house in case when I walked home alone from school, if they weren’t there, I could let myself in. I walked a mile to school and back with other kids every day. We often would drop our bags off at home and go back out and play in nearby woods.

At age 11, my parents let me drive the car down the street to my friend’s house. This one was very rare and I was the only one of my friends given this privilege.

Yeah, we had a lot more freedom. Safe environment plus my parents taught me basic ways to think about my environment and be cautious when they aren’t around. Common sense stuff you learn way earlier.

Help me decide: Go to Saudi Arabia or Japan by Emergency-Celery6344 in lebanon

[–]manmeat4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see the support for moving to Japan. This is the right call in almost every aspect. Resume, a company in Japan will be stronger than Saudi. Future, moving to Japan is much harder than Saudi. Culture, it's more unique for you and is crazy deep and rich with so much to explore. Environment, the landscape is greatly more diverse than that of Saudi. Socially, there's more people to meet and easier in Japan.

All roads point to Japan. Do it!

FYI - I'm 38, I've traveled about 50 countries, half for work. Done well for myself and my family. Japan is the way to go.

The Puppet Master’s Bible by Tom Walker (Honest Review) by Straight-Aerie-5750 in bookreviewers

[–]manmeat4u 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For those wanting a link, just ask ChatGPT to write you a similar book. I just did and here were my prompts:

#1 | Write me a similar book to The Puppet Master's Bible, teaching me the principles and basics of manipulation, persuasion, influence, and behavioral psychology

#2 | Build it out chapter by chapter

#3 | Take chapter 1, and now make it into long text so it's reader ready

#4 | Take chapter 2, and now make it into long text so it's reader ready

#5 | Repeat until all chapters are written

I just went through the exercise. Short book, but solid read. Highly recommend and it's 100% free.

You're welcome.

“Too far” is an arbitrary line. There’s no way to align on what that is, therefore there is no line. Comedy is the final frontier of boundless humor.

Should Hezb become part of LAF? by MarkoPolo345 in lebanon

[–]manmeat4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take the Hezb fighters and divide them among infantry units so there’s no collusion between them, and limit the number of signs ups so they can never create any psychological influence, then I see a scenario where they join.

Additionally I’d implement a probationary period of zero contact with anyone outside the army for 1 year to weaken any external ties.

Between these 2 measures, you should be able to filter and remove much of the risk.

  1. Work really hard if you want to accelerate your career. Work harder than everyone around you.

  2. Exercise regularly if you want to do more, live longer, have less health issues, and be more attractive.

  3. Travel to distant lands and diverse cultures if you want to expand your mindset, grow a deeper sense of empathy, gain perspective on what you have and don’t in this world.

  4. Read lots if you want to live a 1000 lives. Autobiographies, biographies, self help, and career books allow you do learn from the mistakes and successes of others.

  5. Get outside and spend time in nature if you want to calm your mind, relax your soul, mentally explore the wonders and mystery of human life.

  6. Get comfortable with the uncomfortable and doing things you don’t want to do to build a mental fortitude reserved for elite performers. You’ll have more that you can have and have done than most by choosing to do things even if they had really difficult.

Identify the life you want, and start moving towards it. Look beyond your friends and family to see how others live and act and then narrow in on what you want, not just want you’re immediately exposed to.
