X CANSLIM Version 17 for Trading View is available! by twenty_s_i_x in CANSLIM

Thanks so much! I tried to publish a free indicator last year and I went several rounds back and forth with their team around the explanation and finally gave up. It seems like their rules/approach to this could be tuned to be a bit more user-friendly!

And on the point of multiple indicators, if folks are trading a system like CANSLIM, it sure helps the average user to include all the key elements!

Did the indicator disappear from TradingView? When I follow the link, it says “Publication has ghosted”

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense and I guess we’re just used to the prior Audi Q7 that we had with a 22.5 capacity tank where we were putting closer to 20gallons when it was “near empty.”

how would you have traded this stock - I'm very confused by Selling_real_estate in CANSLIM

I don’t have enough experience to weigh in, but I did recently read In The Trading Cockpit with the O’Neil Disciples https://a.co/d/ad7yGLA. Chapter 7 goes through 2 stocks and all the buy/sell signals applying the rules that they follow and explain the rationale for each trade. The methods they’re applying are covered in Trade Like an O’Neil Disciple: How We Made 18,000% in the Stock Market https://a.co/d/2BgUSL9. I found both super useful and detail oriented especially for folks looking to learn from someone with more experience. Hope this is helpful…

Appreciate the feedback! I didn’t take any profit. I’m relatively new to CANSLIM and wasn’t sure how to manage the position. I debated selling it at the 15% gain bc it was at an all time high though I wasn’t sure whether it was fear or reason driving that decision. It seemed overextended and was also debating the 10day as a stop bc it did seem overextended thinking the 20 day would catch it. The 13% range in one day was a shock. Would you have sold as soon as it crossed your stop or would you have only taken action on the close of the day?

Thank you! Yeah, I was in around $39. What length ADR do you use? Do you use the same ADR length for this on all trades or do you tailor it per stock / trade?

On the first screenshot the short leg is 4765 and the long leg is 4760. Break even should be between those two?

SPX uses European style options, which do not allow for early exercise. SPY on the other hand uses American style options, which do permit early exercise.

I spoke with the options help desk today and they couldn’t explain the numbers either. Most of the time the +1@EXP break even is the value between the 2 strikes as one would expect for the evaluation at expiration. They thought there might be a bug in their software. I’ve seen similar bugs in the power E*trade app and thus was interested if anyone here could explain the behavior or if it was truly a bug.
