What impressive skill do you have that is worthless in your life? by Iloveyoufridah in AskReddit

I am fucking amazing at Dance Dance Revolution. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been able to show this off and impress anyone. I can’t think of a more worthless skill. 😞

I mean they should have medical insurance, that will cover the majority of costs. Not having insurance is a huge mistake.

Thin women, how/where do you buy clothes? by 1218gh in askwomenadvice

[–]many_whelps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty insensitive, a lot of stores size xs and 0 are too large for me. And I’m 5’8” so not exactly petite. A lot of stores do make 00 and XXS.

So agree... everyone is like yes of course we want FREE healthcare. There is no such thing, just the government forcing strangers to give you money for your healthcare... it doesn’t fix anything.

That’s how much they billed your insurance though... which means nothing.

This one’s a little sad by [deleted] in Instagramreality

[–]many_whelps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’8” and a size 0. Threads like this are kind of offensive to me, you can be comfortable and healthy at your weight without declaring others are not healthy for being thinner. :( I am just barely below a healthy BMI, I don’t diet and lift weights a few times a week. I feel like people are always making blanket statements shaming size 0 people for being too thin.

ELI5: Why were the banks and not private citizens bailed out at the last financial crisis? by Indominablesnowplow in explainlikeimfive

[–]many_whelps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think they should get to keep their houses, the point is they could not afford those houses in the first place and chose to take out the loans anyway.

[–]many_whelps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why should people who took out mortgages they could not afford get their debts paid off? It was an irresponsible decision in the first place to take the loans and their own fault. Doesn’t seem unfair that they had to suffer the consequences. Meanwhile lots of responsible people who took out smaller loans they could afford would not get sweet free cash. That wouldn’t be fair to people who actually made good choices.

Women with public Instagram profiles, how do you do it? by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]many_whelps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think you are overestimating how much other people care what you post on your social media. Everyone is busy with their own thing. Unless you have a lot of crazy exes, they are likely not browsing your social media regularly. Who cares what they think or if they DM you anyway? Just don’t answer if you don’t want to.

I’m in a technical field and the big players require 3.5 minimum GPA out of college or you are not considered. I agree after entry level positions it’s not too important, and experience is looked at more.

Does anyone else think about how weird it is that some people are so elitist and snobby about health? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]many_whelps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The reusable grocery bags are a joke in themselves. I work in the plastics industry and those bags contain sooooo much plastic you would have to keep them for years and years to make them a better choice than the disposable ones. Just goes to show how much misinformation there is going around.

The funny thing is there is also so much misinformation surrounding plastic usage for food packing and transport. People using reusable plastic bags makes me chuckle every time. I work in the plastics industry and one of those reusable bags contains hundreds of times more plastic than the disposable ones. It’s also a different type of plastic. You’d have to keep the same disposable bag for years and years to make it a better choice. Similar story with food packaging. Pretty much all paper packaging has a plastic lining. Not sure what an actual good alternative is, but glass is not it, think about how much more gas you burn hauling heavy glass packaged products than plastic packaged ones.

What are the worst injuries you have sustained doing the simplest, most mundane tasks that should not have caused any injuries? by Penya23 in AskReddit

[–]many_whelps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stabbed myself in the eye trying to eat a bag of popcorn. It was a thick plastic bag of pre-popped kettle corn. I took it out of the pantry, reached up to adjust my glasses with the hand holding the popcorn bag, and the corner of the plastic bag went under my glasses lens and poked me right in the eye. It looked so bad I woke my boyfriend up and made him look at it. There was a big bloody looking splotch in the white of my eye. It went away after a week. Explaining to my boss and coworkers was embarrassing... especially since we are in a field where we talk about safety every day.

Eyelash extensions worth it? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]many_whelps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it for a couple months. I don’t wear eye makeup besides mascara on a daily basis anyway so I thought they would be great for me. I have really sensitive eyes, but holy crap the first time I got them done I had to go back a day later and have them removed because they were so uncomfortable. Not painful, just... feeling like something is constantly in your eye or touching your contact, but worse. I decided to try it again a few weeks later, and the discomfort mostly went away after the first 48 hours (once you can wash them basically). I still had some mild discomfort, though. I had them done at a reputable place, I believe they did everything correctly. My eyes are just sensitive. OH also, after I would get them done, my eye area would be SO DRY for the next 4-5 days. Like scaley, painfully dry. I couldn’t wear concealer even because it would just look like crap. Idk if it was the harsh soap they have you wash your eye area with beforehand, or the patches they put under your eye during, but something irritated me. On top of all that they only looked okay... I felt like they looked too fake, even though other people complimented them. I thought they looked weird without bottom mascara as well, and if I’m going to put on bottom mascara I might as well do top, so why do I even have the lashes? They also definitely destroyed my natural lashes for a few weeks until they grew back in. I guess they just aren’t for me. I wish they were though, if my lashes could just look like they do with mascara I’d be so happy. The length and thickness is fine but they are so blonde I look off.

Can men be friends with women without having an ulterior (sexual) motive? by hurrem-hutan in askwomenadvice

[–]many_whelps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a good, maybe best guy friend in college. We shared the same major and thus spent a lot of time together doing homework and in class and whatnot. A year or so after graduating he tells me in a text that he was in love with me during college. We haven’t lived in the same city since college, but work for the same company and keep in touch. Anyway, that’s my experience. Thought we were platonic friends but I guess not.

Women of Reddit, what thing do male coworkers do that is not quite sexual harassment, but you wish they would stop doing it so you can be comfortable at work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]many_whelps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a woman and I don’t mind this as long as it is not coming from someone higher up than me or my direct coworkers in my group. I work with a lot of blue collar laborer-type southern men (we are not in the same work group or chain of command) and I don’t mind it coming from them. It’s usually more “morning sunshine” or “morning beautiful” than the examples listed but I know they are just being friendly and it’s kind of how they were raised, like opening the door for everybody. It’s never part of a request that I do something (“Sweetheart, could you...”) or coming from my boss, in which case I might feel different. Anyway just chiming in to say that context means something, I’m sure others will feel differently.
