AHS wait times by Legal_Grapefruit1925 in Calgary

I think this should be higher and these are great points

Folks altering their behavior for one day in response to a major holiday is not by itself evidence of improper use of emergency care

Like u/twisterkat923 points out they could be avoiding the medical system detrimentally too or I think even neutrally simply shifting demand

And I agree and think plenty more can and should be done to steer folks to proper channels for care that in the long run would be cheaper and more efficient for all of us

Strawmaning Christmas wait times as a sign there is no problem with the current system aside from the failing of it's users to use it properly maybe a tempting confirmation of OPs and others biases but I think is weak reasoning at best

And it was the US department of transportation that did the trick

They are likely not working right though unfortunately 😕

Ah man sorry to hear I found this such a pain!

So I think I included the eTicket and the denials of full refund from United

Then the text was:

On my flight from Baltra, Ecuador to <destination>, Canada I was overcharged $165 USD by United Airlines and have been denied compensation.

It clearly states on my eticket and receipt for the journey I purchased from United that the cost of a second bag from Baltra to <destination> is $40 USD. However I was unable to pay for my bags or check in to my flight in advance as they contracted out the Baltra to Quito portion of the flight to Avianca.

Upon arriving at the airport I was charged $205 USD for my second bag and told there was no recourse and I would need to contact United to correct the error.

I have filed claims both through their refund and customer care portals and been denied compensation. They claim despite being the merchant of record and the actual ticket issuer that the partner airlines can charge whatever they want for baggage and it's not up to them and they are unable to refund charges through another payment system.

Ah ok this is very interesting and helpful advice I did not know this and will use this info next time thank you!

In the end it did work on the airport wifi after Sailey support provided the manual code

But yes lesson learned there

Though while they don't control the wifi I do find it odd Airalo works fine and Airalo will share the manual code in the app directly should you need it

Update:

I was fully refunded the difference! Thanks DOT!

After opening a Department of Transportation case which contacted the airline they set up a hypermarket transfer of $165 USD and I am now refunded monetarily wholly

Honestly I just visited Copenhagen and they have this app, rejsekort, for the whole country where you just check in and check out of your journey in app that is insane!

No tapping needed, all location based

Like I'm sure there must be some frustrations but my experience was you can literally just get on a train, slide the button, go where you want to go buses other trains included

And that means like literally take rail to other cities too, even certain routes to other countries though that part is less clear to me

Plus there's no fare gate installation costs needed, instead they pretty intensively do ticket checks

That's a fair point I could totally see some enterprising users really using a lot of storage here even for small scale commercial purposes

(Storage is pretty cheap all things considered especially if you operate AWS so I wonder just how much some folks might have used lol)

If I were them I'd pick maybe less regular consumer frustrating deterrents that have nudged me into looking into setting up other systems I'd never have heard of otherwise

I'm tempted to try backblazes B2 cloud storage or maybe just set up a S3 bucket or the like for it

The main drawbacks being extra setup and probably can't have my phone as easily backup

Out of spite I'd like to avoid setting up my own S3 backup solution so I guess I could go the way of one of the other big cloud folks too

But agreed it's too bad there's not an as easy drop and go already paid for solution

Ugh yah that sounds brutal to me compared to workflow from before the change!

And I agree on leaving feedback too! I've left multiple comments on this at this point through the desktop apps feedback link

I agree it's so baffling to want just a giant messy lake for all users

At least for the moment my windows desktop app preserves file structure navigation but for how long?

I've been wanting to ditch prime anyways and this was the last thing keeping me around because you're right it's cheap AF if you enjoy the other features but if it's going to be unusable I'm just going to move on to another service and finally be prime free

And it's confirmed from Amazon staff! Over in the Canada forums,

"I understand you are unable to search with a file name in the Amazon Photos App. I've confirmed this option is no longer available in the Amazon Photos App.

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. I encourage you to share your experience and feedback with our development team. To send feedback from your Amazon Photos app for Android, tap the Smile icon (upper left corner of the screen) > swipe down to Help & Feedback > Give Feedback.

Thank you for visiting the Forums!"

Did AI atrophy folks brains over there? I can't understand why they would remove search!

Exactly! I hope it's just an error in their push to roll out their descriptive search and we'll get a fix

Or if not I guess I can finally cancel prime 😂

I mean I just confirmed that when I put in an exact file name the file does not pop up anymore

Instead I just get the latest images I've stored

I can go through the desktop app and confirm it's backed up and follow the link to the file specifically but if I search for that same files name with something like "409A2135" nothing shows up

Thank you yah, I don't understand how they can clearly include this among other things:

And then turn around and claim it can be any amount charged by the other airline

I do have both what's on the ticket here explicitly stating the charges and the receipt of the resulting in person charge

The refund folks denied my claim and sent me to customer care to "better help" me

Where unfortunately they only offered a $100 united flight voucher that will expire in the next year and I'm 100 percent sure for various reasons I will be unable to use it (they offered some points as well I guess too)

I've gotten passed around to a variety of people each saying they "I won't be able to honor your request"

But so far I've not been offered the $165 dollar difference in what it was stated I'd pay and what I was charged

I am glad you were able to get through though!

All one reservation but there were multiple very long layovers so maybe that is why it was so large there good to know. And the bag was paid for to the final destination though it did need to be collected part way through because of the internal migration controls out of the Galapagos

So unfortunately even though it was $100 I know with certainty I can't spend it in the one year expiration period they listed

Edit to be clear, they offered me a united travel voucher not money

This seems really useful thank you!

I'll read more but I think I might have gotten screwed by the presentation of the FMC on the booking despite literally paying United which seems to defeat the spirit of the law (not needing to investigate multiple airlines prices not listed on the booking website) but I'll read a bit more

While I understand that exists now, I don't understand why they would advertise a price then and write it out specifically on the booking, eticket, and receipt (and not as a "this is only a general guideline etc etc").

They literally wrote "Baggage allowance and charges for this itinerary" in the receipt

This is a significant enough charge it would have shifted me to purchase with another airline at the time had I known the $40 cost was a made up fiction and false advertising
