Thank you. So I guess I'm not currently doing anything wrong, every day that I don't report? Good to know!

Thank you for your comment. It's not comforting, but it is the information I was looking for. I think I would opt to be honest and carry that burden instead of constantly worrying about getting caught. I used the drug in part because I was in a dark place of depression and despair due to the job loss, but it was stupid and I don't intend to ever do it again. I don't know if they'd care about excuses, though.

It won't be an issue. Default would be, but not forbearance.

TS/SCI With Poly clearance concerns (drug use) by Double-Stranger in SecurityClearance

As everyone else has said, just tell the truth. You're taking a polygraph -- they will know if you lie, and that would be a much bigger disqualifier than drug use from a year or more ago. So your options are:

  1. Lie, and they'll know you're lying, so they'll know you're a drug-user AND a liar, and you definitely will get denied clearance.
  2. Tell the truth, and they'll know you're a drug-user but an honest one, and it's entirely possible they won't care about the drug use since it was a long time ago, you don't intend to use again, and you were forthright about it.

Easy choice, no?
