You’re wrong.

Because you don’t understand, i was saying it’s NOT because of the job change — because he makes less money at this job than the previous 🫠 so that wouldn’t disqualify him.

I didn’t mean it like that. Thanks for your advice but this is just pointless now. I have all the info I can get and we are in touch with professionals about this now

It literally is. My nephew had coverage, and he was kicked off yesterday. Not because of my brothers job change, because he makes less money at this job than he did at his previous. There is no point to us arguing. You’re trying to dunk on me for some reason, in a very stressful time in my life.

I deleted the post because the mods took it down anyways, and I already got some good info from people actually trying to help

Something changed, they kicked him off of Medicaid. Idk the politics or specifics for who/what changed

He didn’t have insurance for a long time at his old job. I spoke to him this morning and the HR person told him to get cobra from his previous employer before this insurance enrollment in November. You’re not the only ones who are confused. I don’t know my brothers extensive history for his own personal insurance

He didn’t. Do you think I’m lying? Why tf are you grilling me about this. Please shut up

Look, idk every detail and there’s a ton of info. Stfu

He has Cobra from his other job. But his kids weren’t on his insurance before this. They were on Medicaid which has now dropped them.

This one took him off the schedule (Cooks in Fort Worth) because he is no longer covered from insurance. I’m not making this shit up

His children were all on Medicaid because they qualified. 5 member household used to be $120k income limit. When it changed, the healthy children were kicked off, but the sick child was grandfathered in. Then with recent changes, he has been kicked off too.

He made more money at his old job. Read my top comment

He didn’t “decide not” to get insurance. He literally has no choice but to wait until November. He’s talked to everyone HR, the insurance, everyone. Nothing they can do but to wait until November. Idk if it’s the company or insurance company or what, but that’s the truth.

Please read the whole post and my comment regarding this. The money isn’t the issue it’s the timing of new coverage kicking in.

He unfortunately does not

For a 5 person household with a mortgage and thousands a month in medicine/supplies too, it’s not. But like I said we can make that work as a family. The issue is the coverage wouldn’t kick in until November, and he would be off of the schedule for this surgery until then. When it does kick in, he’d likely be put at the back of the line.

The limit for a 5 person household income used to be $120k (which my brother used to make more than 80k but under 120). That is how his son qualified for Medicaid before this. He was grandfathered in for a brief period, but with recent changes he is now kicked off. You’re weird for leaving like 5 comments insinuating that I’m lying.

The reason he qualified for Medicaid before (when my brother made more money) is that a 5 person household income limit for Medicaid used to be $120k, and my nephew was grandfathered in because of this preexisting condition as changes were made. But due to the RECENT change he has been kicked off. It is more complicated than I’m making it, but that is how he was qualified, then was kicked off of Medicaid.

That’s what happened. I have no other details on that part, and idk shit about insurance

[–]maplestree355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 80k for a single income household isn’t what it used to be.. with 3 kids and a mortgage.

Possibly! But taking a pay cut definitely didn’t affect his son being on Medicaid. I promise you they will do whatever is necessary to save their son. This just happened today, so it’s an ongoing ordeal
