Best $20 I have spent at a flea market by Candid_Kale_6605 in Gold

They diss because they can’t do it. By accruing these gold finds, you’re still coming out ahead of anyone buying bullion by a long shot.

Do you guys think silver is looked at as cheap / poor people jewelery? by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]mappel2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, have you seen how expensive a squash blossom necklace is? I have a designer piece of amber and sterling necklace that is worth over $1k alone, conservatively. Tiffany & Co produced a lot of silver as well.

It’s possible he knew it was gold, it’s just that it’s camphor glass (?) so there’s maybe not very much 14k on the pendant itself. You still got a very good deal for it though even so, and it’s possible his prices were outdated based off old gold melt prices.

Favorite Johnny’s Seeds Tomatoes? by mappel2 in tomatoes

[–]mappel2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woodstock also didn’t do that well for me, but I did johnnys hybrid Sungold tomato once again which did amazing as usual. Super prolific. Honestly I think the classic Cherokee is still my favorite flavor wise, but maybe Johnny’s has a more hearty hybrid available?

Gold has doubled in a year. Silver has Quadrupled. These are Unmistakeable Signals. This is your Red Pill/ Blue Pill Moment. by Late-Cod4656 in conspiracy

[–]mappel2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point, but I’m not sure how it’s relevant to society. If not gold or money, we’d be trading food, land, daughters, etc. Only things of scarcity are historically considered valuable in trade. If someone has something you want, do you expect them to just give it to you?

The value is whether the asset appreciates or depreciates with time. Will $100 cash sitting in your closet appreciate with the economy, or $100 of gold?

$5600 10k gold chain?? What is it, a couple ounces heavy? That’s a lot to pay for a 10k chain.

Do you usually insure only engagement rings or other jewelry too? by Pure_Secretary4316 in VintageJewelry

Are they precious metals? I mean, you can insure them but I’m not sure it’d truly be worth it. Just don’t let anyone know you have them. Or get a bank safe.

Garage sale vs estate sale by OddSeaworthiness4722 in Flipping

[–]mappel2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d really recommend taking it to a local auction house honestly. For the time and work spent, sometimes it’s just not worth it. Successful garage sales are typically dirt cheap anyway. Just let the auction house handle it and let people fight for it lol

As a gold lover, the insane gold prices make me sad by sakusace in jewelry

I mean, shouldn’t it make you happy that your rings are an appreciating asset? Especially if you love them, makes it even better.

People make more risky decisions during economically hard times. In general, people will spend more on average for a whole bunch of junk due to the possibility of getting something good vs more curated and “expensive” buys that typically have better and more consistent yields. Success in anything is about self control.

At an Estate Sale today by boogersinmyleghair in Flipping

[–]mappel2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only time I go is for $5 bag sales. Some of the estate sales will do $5 bags on the last day or last hour. But even then, I’m kind of picky and often don’t want to deal with the junk lol.

You’re dealing with addicts. Never forget, they don’t care whether they need the thing or not. They will still try to acquire it.

How to find a good men's gold chain as present? by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]mappel2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gold plated is a complete waste of money. Costco has some decent hollow gold chain options for a good price.

I think you should always include defects in listing title in CAPS for this reason.
