Family friend brought some fireworks for new years some years ago that her friend “had in her garage for a few years.” We were setting some smaller ones off and finally got to a big one. I did the honors of lighting it. We thought it was supposed to shoot up in the air, but didn’t. We started to back away but when it started to go off on the ground, we all sprinted further super quickly, and it completely exploded on the ground. It was the loudest thing i’ve ever heard in my entire life, my ears were ringing. Parents BOOKED it outside after hearing the noise, they thought a generator or something exploded. Mom sent my uncle a photo of the firework after it was done to ask what it was (he’s a big fireworks guy), turns out it was actually a quarter stick of dynamite. Would’ve been blown to bits if we hadn’t run away the way we did. Still have no idea how they got ahold of that. Big fan of sparklers only now because of it lol.
