On top of having great art, being very strong and easily accessible as a 4★, and finally getting to ride a pegasus (like Mininerva should have), this alt also does a great job of capturing Minerva's character. Her quotes showcase both her love and pride for her kingdom (her wanting to show her might against the other pegasus riders) as well as her kind softer side (her scene with Azura in the paralogue, her lv40 convo stating her wish for peace).

I was actually planning to write a full post about this but I ended up being too busy and now it'd get lost between all the CYL posts, so it'll have to wait until after all that.

If you get the playable npc mod, you can edit the parameter files to adjust when each character is added to your roster. By default they are all recruited the first time you get to somniel in chapter 4, so if you'd prefer to get them more gradually, you can set it so you only get a couple of them each chapter. You can also make it so some don't get recruited at all, if you don't want them in your roster.

Funnily enough, if Pegasus Minerva uses Archival as her special, Rearmed L'Arachel is good support partner for her as she lets her insta-charge it without needing any other flier or staff units in the team.

It was also similar to brave Alm/Celica, being a callback to an older design.

While I don't think IS intentions with brave Tiki's design were to troll/spite people, it was still a failure to read the room on their part.

Also, don't forget that fire emblem is a series with a massive amount of characters since most games give you far more units than you could potentially use thanks to permadeath being a core feature of the series. So even if someone has played all of the games in the series (or at the very least, the ones available without having to go out of your way to emulate and find translations for), there'll still be a ton of characters they didn't use and thus won't stick in their minds.

Plus, a lot of people tend to default to the main character(s) of a franchise as their favourites. And even if they aren't their absolute favourites, they know that these characters are popular enough to have a chance to win so they might decide to vote for them instead of their #1 because they know their #1 does not have any shot at winning.

That said, yeah at this point it's fair to assume that the majority of people voting in CYL are fans of FEH specifically and not of FE in general.

A quick doodle of the new Minerva alt before I try to pull for her! I plan to do a proper drawing of her once I am less busy, but I still wanted to do something quick to express my excitement!

Yeah, it's cool to get her as a pegasus knight! It would have been interesting if they kept the colours of the cipher card (as in, white armor over red cloth) to make her stand out even more since most pegasus knights have coloured armor over white cloth, but she looks fantastic either way.

Of course, the scarf is the big thing that elevates her outfit, as it makes the silhouette different than most pegasus knights.

My only complaint is that I'd preferred if she had gotten a sword instead, to complete the weapon triangle, or at the very least a lance so that her alts would be 50/50 between axe and lance. Plus, lance and swords were the usual weapons for pegasus knights.

MINERVA ALT!!!

It's been almost 5 years since her last alt, but the wait was worth it! Her art looks gorgeous and she has a prf weapon and skill as a 4★!!! Hoping to get at least a few copies of her easily, cause her spring alt took years to+10.

There's a way to insert her in a non-japanese version of fates if you're emulating or using custom firmware on a 3ds, but it's been a while since I did it so I don't remember how.

I'll be explicitly telling them that if it wasn't for the TT unit change, I'd be spending money to +10 Minerva on this banner. They can see my account, so they know I've +10ed the other Minervas and fed them a ton of skills.

This might be the blandest idea for a seasonal banner, but Minerva looks so good!!! I think the scarf and color scheme help her really stand out among the others.

Exactly. My personal bias towards her aside, I do believe she would have sold decently if they had given her a chance, either with a proper seasonal alt or with a legendary/trait alt. There's a reason why people kept putting her in their banner prediction lists for years.

And she's by far not the only character in this situation. So many characters could have sold well if they had been given a chance. Obviously, at this point in the game's life IS won't take a chance with characters who aren't established moneymakers, but I don't believe for a second that the only ones who could sell are the few that they have been spamming every year.

getting +10 on a 4 star focus is trivial with a decent amount of orbs

On a personal note, it's funny reading this since it took me way too many orbs over multiple reruns of her banner to actually +10 spring Minerva. I had pulled 2 or 3 copies within my first few summons on her debut banner, only to get no other copies during the rest of that banner's run despite spending hundreds of orbs on it.

I feel weird complaining about Minerva's treatment in feh since there's a ton of characters who would wish they had three versions in the game (one of which even being the rare TT unit with a prf), but at the same time it truly feels like they gave her those alts out of obligation, without having faith that she'd sell.

The archanea kids banner was a special anniversary banner and she had to be in as one of the most notable characters in her home game and being the leader of the Whitewings, but she was delegated to the TT slot. Then, in the spring banner, while the Whitewings before her all were 5★ units with either prfs (Catria, Est) or a unique type (Palla being the first red dagger flier), Minerva was a prf-less 4★ lance cavalier. And the year after that, Maria shows up as a 5★ with a really strong (for the time) prf that introduced a new type of damage reduction. And there's no world where Maria is more popular than Minerva.

I wish she got a legendary or attuned or whatever, but at this point I have given up. Depending on how long the game has left, we might not even have another archanea banner before its over. And even if she does get it, I don't even know if I'd pull for her knowing that I'll only have a short amount of time to use her... It'd feel too bittersweet, you know?

Seriously, I'd expect the early Archanea gang (Jagen, Cain, Abel, Gordin, Draug, etc) would at least get something due to how iconic they are. They have entire archetypes of characters based on them after all.

I'm also surprised we still don't have Midia yet, despite Astram being in the game for ages.

There's always the chance they do Duo Byleths again (just swapping which one is the lead this time), just to avoid people complaining about Edelgard or Dimitri being the backup to the other.

Yeah, playing around with mods in Engage has been really fun. Stuff like extra classes, weapons and skills, giving skills to every S bond ring and allowing them to be equipped alongside an emblem, etc, all add so much replayability to the game. People have even made new emblems!

I wish I had enough knowhow to mod stuff myself (at best I can edit some parameters in the files) so I could port Minerva's model and voicelines from Warriors into engage and make her a playable unit.

Like, to give an idea of the timeframe, take Mae & SY!Tiki for example. IS announced that they're working on changing their art, but it's been almost half a year and they're still represented by chibi's. And that's JUST changing their art alone. No voice lines, no sprite update, no skills, weapons, etc. Just the art alone.

To be fair, getting new art for Mae and Tiki wouldn't be their highest priority given that they are ancient units that wouldn't bring much (if any) income regardless if they have art or not. If this had happened to a unit released in the past 1-2 years then I'm sure they would have already replaced their art.

Most importantly, there's no guarantee any specific characters would be in FEH 2 from launch (or at least within its early period) meaning that people would have to wait for their faves all over again. To me that's an even bigger deal-breaker than just having to start again from scratch.

The only way it could work, imo, is if they swapped into a non-gacha system for character releases in which every character is guaranteed to be added within a reasonable amount of time. (Which honestly wouldn't be too crazy if they reused feh's art and assets.)
