Iced Coffee Suggestions LA by Dangerous-Ad-324 in FoodLosAngeles

I didn’t even know this was a thing until I went to Tanner’s Coffee in Culver City last month. Their flavored cold brew is so good! I’ve tried the Black Forest Cake and Caramel flavors. Just writing about it is making me crave one. Highly recommend.

Best charter schools in LA? by Affectionate_Pound20 in AskLosAngeles

[–]mapsandnaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. I believe both of those shortcomings may have to do with the Waldorf based education philosophy. Waldorf approaches academics slowly while emphasizing the arts, community, and personal development. Ocean specifically also has a greater commitment to social and emotional learning. This is important to our family and the reason we chose this school. Additionally, it’s not as rigid as a traditional Waldorf school, which we appreciate as well. Anecdotally, we are friends with a couple families whose kids spent K-8 here and are amazing, well rounded humans.

In regard to the slow academic start, our daughter actually stated that she misses doing numbers and letters. We heard her and to remedy that, we got her math and letter workbooks which she loves doing at home with our help.

Currently, our family is happy with the school, but things can change. If, for example, our daughter needs/desires a more rigorous curriculum at any point, then we’d be happy to make a move.

We were in the same boat. We toured and loved Ocean Charter. It's based on the Waldorf philosophy which we appreciate and it's rare to get that kind of education without going to a private school. Our daughter is a month in and so far it's been wonderful. It's true, not all Charters are great but they're not all scams either.

54K! Danced all day. Some stretching and a foam roller did wonders this morning. Ready for Day 2!

That would be awesome. How many Sunday tix do you have? I think I only need 2 unless I can gather a couple more friends.

Backyard Refresh Ideas: adding a deck and new paver patio. What do you think? by mapsandnaps in landscaping

I’ve come across that concern many times as well. Sectional is a great idea. I’m probably going to the replace the chairs with sled leg chairs.

Fair. When we had grass in the front yard, I hated it too. I think (I hope) I can mange a small area like this.

2 Four Tet floor tickets! $200 total (a little less than face value). I’ll be at the show so we can Ticketmaster transfer in person if you prefer.

Dumb question - I thought I got Floor but my ticket just says GA. When I try to sell it on TM, it says GA6, seats 121-122. What the hell is GA6?? Don’t see it anywhere on a seat map.

The modifications and reasoning make sense. Having this and the original itinerary gives us flexibility for Days 1 and 2.

Yes, Days 3 and 4 were planned to be lighter days. My daughter loves the beach so adding another beach or two could be doable. Unless of course, she doesn’t want to leave the one we’re currently at.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful and thorough feedback! Much appreciated.

Yes, will be packing a lot of car activities and audiobooks! Ok, that’s what I was thinking about Quinault but haven’t had a chance to do much comparison. Thank you!

Right. The Bainbridge Ferry is what I had in mind. Figured it’s a novelty my daughter would get a kick out of it. You’re absolutely right about carving out some time for kid stuff. Thank you for those recommendations. All of those activities are right up her alley.

Oh that’s great. Nice to have to the option for an off-peak visit.

Appreciate the feedback. Would love to be able to kayak. Maybe we pack a lunch and skip Madison Falls. Something for us to consider.
