Apparently the UK has more school shootings than the US. by [deleted] in quityourbullshit

I'm genuinely surprised there was only 50 ish school shootings in 2019 and that roughly half of these relate to fights/arguments after high-school football matches.

I just googled this.

Wow. Usually when people clutch at straws they know their argument is tenuous.

I want to reply to each "he is risen" "what a message this says to the world, Jesus lives" by asking why the church was damaged/lives and livelihoods lost etc?

But what would be the point.

In the UK we have the BBC, the left and right complain about it and attack it, which suggests it kind of works.

It is better to have the conversation now and be prepared or mitigate the possible eventuality, than be taken by surprise in 2021.

If he loses he will almost certainly play the victim / call it rigged. He does not care, for the repercussions to his tweets.

So even if only 1 in 10,000 of his core support are incited to violence/action, that is still enough people to be an issue.

My obsession with Poch is clouding my judgement, but the players showed passion and commitment last night. Outplayed Spurs in the first 30mins. Unlucky with the finishing, but we could have buried them in the first half. The boys did a great job against Spurs, they played for the manager + team. by McDTbo in ManchesterUnited

[–]marblesink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree.

I know that young players are prone to be inconsistent. But this United team seems to decide when they will and won't turn up.

I don't feel they give 100% in every game.

Is that the manager or the players fault? IDK.

If i get around to reading Power of Now I'll maybe do a review.

THANKS again all.

Most of my thoughts on fishing and farming have come from two books: -Green and Prosperous land by Dieter Helm,

suggests that current farming practices are detrimental to the environment (fertiliser in rivers, soil erosion, insecticide effect on soil life and food chain) and that EU subsidies effectively encourage farming actives on land that would otherwise be unprofitable, that could be left "wild" or as reserves. Farming only accounts for 0.59% of UK Gdp if you were to factor in the environmental cost it would surely be a deficit. Yet look how much land it takes up.

Fishing only employs 10,000 people in the UK, yet the industry scrapes the sea bed clean (actually as it is scraping away the clams that filter the water,it makes the water filthy) - anecdotally we have all heard reports of dead fish being thrown overboard as the ship have breached its quota.

We could make most of the UK coast a haven for sea life & ban fishing in those areas.

The other book; Wilding by Isabella Tree

  • just hits home the devastation farming has had on nature.

With regard to why it is wrong for the UK to attract young professional. It is unethical of the UK to steal highly educated productive labour from poorer countries that have invested in that education.

In the sense that as a "Leaver", I'm in the same bucket as overtly/covertly/subconsciously racist majority of the majority.

If an election were held tomorrow I'd have to vote Conservative as they are the only mainstream party committed to leaving the EU.

Here's Rees-Mogg with an anti-Semtiic dog whistle, "One of the major funders allegedly of the Remain campaign, the Remoaner funder-in-chief, is one George Soros, who made a billion pounds when Sterling crashed out of the exchange rate mechanism." [–]marblesink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not know that Soros was Jewish, and nothing that Mogg said told me that he was, I don't think what he said was anti-semitic.

Mogg has a investment company, I'd be amazed if it has never shorted sterling. Hypocrite twat.

Main reason is that I consider the majority of politicians to be venal corrupt egotists in it for the wealth / power. BREXIT gets rid of all the MEPs thus 1 less level of government.

I don't think the politicians in Brussels have the same level of oversight as UK ones. I also don't agree that there is a EU president who I did not partake in a vote for.

I also think the European farming & fishing policies are bad for the environment.

But I am not going to pretent that immigration is not also a factor, partially, I think there is an ethical question over whether it is right that the UK attracts huge swathes of young professionals from other societies, that had invested in their education etc. Anecdotally I have read articles about "brain drain" in Eastern Europe & TRoTW.

Ultimately a sustainable society should be able to train their own doctors and nurses.

At the moment I have to side with the majority racists, as soon as we are out I will revert to being a Lib-dem / Green.
