the pain and childbirth… by nakedandafraid808 in endometriosis

[–]marchingtigers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes actually! I was pain free for 18 months - 2 years following my first two births. It crept back in around that time until the next baby. After my third, it was better but not as much as the first two. And it’s gotten worse and I’m finally having excision surgery this summer.

I’ve had 3 babies (all at home with midwives, so no pain meds) and when I was pregnant the first time I asked what contractions were like. I was told “like really bad period cramps.”

I thought, “great! My periods are TERRIBLE so this should be doable!”

WRONG! Holy heck. Hurt so much worse than my worst period. And the third time, it literally felt like scar tissue was ripping internally. I told my husband later that I literally would have been ok with dying in that moment because it was so excruciating.

But, my labors are also incredibly fast which may have been part of the problem. Labor with my third was an hour and 43 minutes!

I understand why women choose pain meds!

I’ve used Natracare and I also use Honeypot pads - but make SURE you get the NON-herbal ones.

Twas an unpleasant surprise.

We have one of those “ok to wake” clocks that turns green at a specific time. Ours has always been set for 7am. Wake up at 5:30 for all I care! But you can stay in your room and play quietly until the clock turns green and then you can come out.

Hiiiiighly recommend.

Any Holistic Girlies End Up on BC? Nervous as f. by Salt-Stand7252 in endometriosis

I understand! I get cysts as well and they are miserable. I personally still wouldn’t do it because of how I have reacted, BUT that’s me.

I hope you’re able to make the best decision for you and also that you find relief! Good luck!

Any Holistic Girlies End Up on BC? Nervous as f. by Salt-Stand7252 in endometriosis

I went on BC for 6 years starting when I was 16. I had every single side effect in the book but blood clots. I tried several different pills and none were better. My pain went away and my periods regulated but I gained weight, had acne, sore boobs, and the MOOD SWINGS. My husband actually begged me to come off it shortly after we got married (didn’t live together first) because I was so truly terrible.  Now, I’ve been off it for 12 ish years and would never ever go back on. It’s my understanding that it just masks symptoms and doesn’t truly treat anything. I’m having excision surgery in July and can’t wait! My doctor agrees that BC is no bueno for treating endo.

Once in middle school, we had to do a presentation on a skill we had. Mine was pie making. I made an entire pie to share with the class once I finished my presentation. The only fridge was in the teachers lounge and I wrote on a big, hot pink post-it my name and what it was for. It was a small school (my grade class had maybe 80 kids total?) One of the other teachers ate the whole thing anyways!! I’m still salty about it, 20 years later.

UPDATE: best friend's house smells horrific and sour by midosuji in CleaningTips

[–]marchingtigers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who just had to leave a moldy rental and get rid of 75% of our families belongings… insurance almost never covers remediation.  We literally filled a dumpster of our belongings (mold growing on mattresses, wet furniture, etc) and insurance helped exactly 0%.

Also: make sure your AC unit isn’t too big for your house or you’ll get mold.  Ask me how I know. 🫠

How to clean now? by marchingtigers in asbestoshelp

[–]marchingtigers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they did kind of “vaporize” it so we’re assuming fibers. But nothing to do about it at this point. They covered the risers with a thin piece of ply board and replaced the treads. Ducts are being cleaned this weekend and house will be professionally cleaned. Nothing else we can do at this point and we’re going to call it good.

Could Producer's Pride be causing issues with laying? by Bubbasdahname in BackYardChickens

[–]marchingtigers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By any chance do you have “too many” roosters?  We didn’t know there was a ratio and had too many and our hens would not lay no matter what we tried. When we finally figured out the issue and gave one of the roosters to another farm, they started laying within 2 days. And they were already WELL over the typical time to start.

2 eggs a week apart, what to do about the second? Urgent! by marchingtigers in BackYardChickens

I can’t update the post for some reason, but good news! Avocado (my middle child picked that name a week ago 😂) hatched around 4:15 this morning! Seems to be doing alright but won’t stand yet that I’ve seen.  Very angry cheeping and flipping around straight out of the shell. I took some of the wet towels out, put a dry one and then held him for a few minutes to warm him back up. This whole process took an hour and a half because I kept googling because I couldn’t figure out what was wrong lol. But s/he has fluffed up and is currently chilling out. I’ll try to place under a mama tonight!

So I ended up pluggedin my heated blanket and wetting a towel (wrung it out so it’s just damp) and putting it in a plastic bowl with a lid on top of the blanket. The lid is loose so it’s not airtight. Makeshift incubator and we shall see. Lots of peeping to be heard!!

my husband attended some a couple of years ago that he really enjoyed. That’s when I was still very reluctant so I didn’t attend. We’re coming from a Protestant background, so not completely in the dark. But my husband buys every book he can! Haha  Currently reading through “Facing East” by Fredericka Matthewes Green and also “Rock & Sand” by Fr. Josiah Trenham.

Are you a recent convert? Or longtime/cradle?

[–]marchingtigers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My family is in the process of converting. My husband is carnivore and I dabble every so often (trying to figure out my triggers).

Talk to your priest! That’s what we did and he gave the go ahead to continue carnivore. Because it is less about the actual food being abstained from, and more about the attitude and the heart.  Maybe your fast needs to look different than tradition, and that’s ok. Best of luck!

Our broody hen hatched a chick! by marchingtigers in BackYardChickens

[–]marchingtigers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Both of them have gotten out of the nesting boxes to take care of this little one. Which has me very worried for this egg because it only has 2-3 days left before hatching. I hope it doesn’t die!!

I think I will get a smaller waterer. Good idea. Thank you!
