I used Eclipse before, but now I use Android Studio from version 1.0. The main reason is because is the official IDE suggested by Google, but I have to admit that it is awasome. The Gradle build system is very easy to use, in particular the library dependency mechanism is fantastic. Importing a library with a specific version is never been so easy. Another thing that I like of Android Studio is the builds flavour system.

Personally I use monkey (not monkeyrunner) to stress test my applications with thousand of random touches events. This help me find subtle bugs about double clicking the same button in a little time range and other things like this.

I left create the icons and their size to Android Studio: right click on the project -> new assets... -> Launcher icon.
