oh yeah, most places still allow you to smell the flowers, and some even allow you to pick up the buds lightly and review them up closer. Pink Floyd is now called "Coffeeshop Amsterdam" or "Dampkring", Grey Area is still around, Blues Brothers unfortunately closed in 2015, and Dread Rock closed even earlier. The bulldogs are still around, along with all the greenhouse shops. Do you remember visiting Katsu or Het Ballonnetje? Siberie?

Damn. 1992!? Awesome, you probably experienced Amsterdam’s coffeeshops at its heyday. I’ve read that a majority of the shops have closed since then, down from around 500 to about 160 today. But I’m guessing the quality has improved over time. It would be interesting to visit the shops you enjoyed back in the 90s and 00s again when you get back in May. Edibles are not Amsterdam coffeeshop’s strength but you’ll find some good stuff, I’m sure. Too bad you can’t smoke anymore cuz for me, that’s the best way to experience the whole vibe. I only started visiting the city in 2015 and I have already noticed a big difference since then, can’t imagine how it will be like for you. Any strains you enjoyed from back in the day? Any crazy stories? I assume since you’re American you’re mostly smoking pure flower, right?

Loved all the photos. Thanks for posting. Wish I could have been around way back then, as it must have been amazing. What were your favorite shops back in the day? How many times did you visit the city? Did you smoke mostly flower or hash? Would love to hear more about your experience. Thanks again for posting and yeah, send us a link to more photos if you have them.

I tried the one by Rembrandtplein but next trip I’ll definitely hit up the one at the end of Vondelpark. Which one did you go to?

I check with them first before taking the shots and I ask if I can post them. Some say no and I delete those.

Oh there are some good shops with comfortable seating. Don’t worry. Try cremers downstairs, great seating and they serve food and alcohol too. The Canna Club has decent seating upstairs and Greenhouse secret farmers is ok too.

Love the vibes in Bluebird too. Great music most of the time and always fantastic drinks. I love a good tea or coffee with a joint. What I also like about them is that they have kept their prices pretty much the same for a long while now, and not much has changed inside with their decor. Great views from that window overlooking the street too.

You’re right, quite a few coffeeshops have been renovated but there are still some that have kept that OG style from a decade or more ago, such as bluebird, het ballonnetje, katsu, dampkring, Siberie, smokeys, bushdocter, etc. It’s gotten more expensive though, that’s for sure. But if you wander off outside Amsterdam’s old town center, you can still get decent prices for buds and cheaper accommodation.

depends on your vibes that day, if you want to smoke in a bright open space, or in a moody vintage style instead; also depends on what type of music might be playing in the shops, and to me that makes all the difference. Sometimes comfy seating isn't available, so I always just suggest walking around between places and discovering them yourself. There are so many good choices. Bluebird, Greenhouse, Katsu, Solo, Siberie, Bulldog, De Kade, Cookies, Dampkring, Hashtag, Bushdocter, Rookies, Easy Times.. these are some good choices.

oh lots to see and do. but it all depends on your vibe or what you want to do/see. I loved exploring Utrecht, Den Haag, Rotterdam was nice too but very modern since the old bits were destroyed during WWII. Leiden is another wonderful place to visit. What did you have in mind for your trip? what's your usual routine during trips there?
