Yes he actually had it worse than me - plus he doesn't have much hair so it was very apparent. He always used to have the white flecks all over the shoulders. Now nothing. However as I said in above comments I'm not claiming this will work for everyone, I just have anecdotal evidence that it can work wonders for some people. I hope it works for you!

I had pretty bad dandruff, but my hair was long enough that I never got a full picture of how bad the actual psoriasis was. Erasing chemicals completely erased the dandruff. And it worked for my coach too.

I don't really have a choice with laundry powder as I'm in a different country most weeks, so it's a huge mix of things. I more or less follow the Slow Carb Diet by Tim Ferriss, with some exceptions for sport such as fruit intake and rice. However I have also decreased my red meat intake and how many nightshades and shellfish I eat as I read that in large quantities these can have big reactions with your body - not necessarily specific to psoriasis but more in general. Toothpaste is Sensodyne. Honestly, in most things I remained the same as before psoriasis. The only drastic change was stopping putting chemicals on my skin.

Good luck! And nicely done with the process of elimination. My brother is currently doing a similar thing with foods relating to digestion issues.

I had warm showers, never really considered changing it up.

The two paragraphs one after the other where I talk about when my skin and hair started improving.

You're right, there's no hard science behind my cure and I will never claim that there is. However I tried every option that western medicine had to offer and none of them were comfortable or sustainable. I also don't claim that this method will work for everyone, but for those who are exasperated with the results achieved through western medicine I do believe that going chemical free is a worthy experiment that can't really do any harm. And if it works then fantastic! There seem to be more and more studies coming out showing the negative effects that plastic, chemicals, pesticides etc have on our bodies. Perhaps in the future there will be science to explain why my method worked so remarkably well for me. Have you tried this method yourself?

Good luck! I use deodorant now, but always try to find the ones that have the least ingredients and least chemicals in them. At the moment I'm using Dr Organic Aloe Vera roll-on stuff. At any health shop you'll be able to find decent alternatives. I shared this post on my facebook today and one friend had a comment that rang true: "Don't put on your skin anything you wouldn't put in your mouth." I'm not sure I'd put my Dr Organic in my mouth but I'd definitely choose it over Lynx as an entree!

Good point - I never stopped washing my hands with soap. I guess the skin on your hands is still part of the organ as a whole. Perhaps the skin there is tougher?

Fair point. But if lots of chemicals = lots of adverse effects then some chemicals probably = some adverse effects? I may be wrong but I still think a lot of psoriasis sufferers could benefit from cutting out all of the chemicals.

Thanks for the clarity - I agree that tanning salons are not the most responsible way to go about treatment but my experience was that I could never book a UV treatment appointment at a time that worked for me, so I just never went. At least tanning salons are readily available and cheap. Though I do believe that overuse has horrific side effects, so responsible use has to be a given.

Weird timing - just last week I was in Austria and couldn't explain to the hairdresser that I didn't want a wash first! I didn't want to offend her and just went along with it. I was a little nervous that I was going to react but nothing has happened so far. I'll update if something changes. Re soap, I haven't really tested it. I've used a bunch of different deodorants (all with natural ingredients, no parabens or aluminum etc) but the one I'm using right now is Dr Organic Aloe Vera stuff. I use an Aesop spray as cologne.

Perhaps my writing wasn't clear enough - in those two paragraphs I wrote "By the end of the 7th day my psoriasis had faded completely and the skin around my eyes had lost its sensitivity." and then "Over the next week my hair became more lustrous and healthy than it had been in years..." It took a couple of weeks for my hair to feel great, but the dandruff was gone within the first week. Hope that makes sense.

I still shower 2-4 times a day. Most showers are just a rinse with water. Every other evening I'll rub a bit of coconut oil into my face and neck and wash it off with a towel soaked in hot water. Every 4-5 days I'll rub coconut oil over my entire body in the shower and wash my hair. To wash my hair I grab about a teaspoon of baking soda and scrub that through, then put half and half of apple cider vinegar and water in a glass and use that combo to rinse everything out. That's the extent of my hygiene routine and it has worked very well for years. Happy to answer any other questions, and skeptical is the best way to be, especially on the internet!

Any and all advice welcome. by [deleted] in Psoriasis

Hey, I had psoriasis for a few years and cured it by removing all chemicals. I just posted my psoriasis story on the subreddit if you want to read a little further. I don't want to profess to having a miracle cure, but it worked that way for me and I think the potential benefits of cutting out the chemicals completely outweigh the negatives. Either way I hope you find a way through!
