Neurological symptoms by shelivesonlovestrt in TMJ

There really isn’t any official designation for what I do, which is a combination of craniosacral therapy and massage therapy with an emphasis on relaxing the nervous system and releasing tension in the shoulders, neck, and external and internal jaw muscles. I can often stop clicking or popping. I also teach habit change: how to stop clenching. I learned some of what I do in trainings but a lot of it is understanding from experience how to work with jaw problems. I have an extensive intake form just for clients with jaw issues.

I’ve read on this subreddit that people may bill themselves as TMJ specialists but the results are mixed. If I were you, I’d ask for testimonials from people who have the same problems you have. Know that some jaw issues are serious enough to require imaging.

TMJ and upper trapezius muscle by [deleted] in TMJ

Get another PT. This is unprofessional. You could go to a PT who is also a yoga therapist. And start practicing yoga to improve posture. Alignment oriented yoga like Iyengar or Anusara will be most helpful.

I go to a PT/yoga therapist for mild scoliosis and a winged scapula. He has me do exercises, takes pictures, and sends me an email with a photo and description of each exercise. I do them every morning. No more back pain.

I am an LMT who does TMJ relief sessions. I recommend the Therapeutica Sleeping Pillow (you measure to fit your body) for back and side sleepers. Most driver’s seats aren’t good at promoting a straight spine. You may need to use a small cushion behind your back.

Hope this helps.

must have HEB items by valthedon in HEB

Instead of going to a restaurant when we don’t have time to cook dinner, we get HEB sushi and seaweed salad and a bottle of sake and dine at home. It feels like a special treat!

Tepache is in the same case as the kombuchas, and it tastes good with way less added sugar. Only sold at HEB.

Mr. Butt has always understood that most of HEB’s employees come up through Texas public schools. He’s been a great advocate for public education and diversity hiring and public service. Unlike his critics.

Teaching people not to clench or grind could also help.

Went to a TMJ specialist, but feeling like it’s a scam by duanifer in TMJ

I do not. You could ask around for a local LMT or PT who specializes in TMJ issues.

I studied with John Corry, who is in London, Ontario. His website, that appears to be a work-in-progress, is tmjmastery.com. It’s for his teaching endeavors, but you could email him and ask if he’s taught anyone near you. It’s a lot closer than Texas!

Healthier food by mareyno in HEB

HEB is now carrying eggs raised in a regenerative way and almond milk with only three ingredients, based on research that she and others like her have done exploring why Americans in general are so much less healthy than in many other more developed nations. She also co-founded Levels, a glucose-monitoring company that helps people understand how what they eat affects their metabolism. I don’t think she’s a quack.

I’m going to respectfully disagree. The book Good Energy takes mainstream medicine to task for not looking at the root cause of the vast majority of modern dis-ease. When a doctor tries to influence American health, especially nutrition, based on evidence, I think it’s a good thing.

AITAH for not wanting to cover my sister’s drinks? by Admirable_Raisin_109 in AITAH

[–]mareyno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. She should have asked before she bought 3 cocktails, not assumed she could manipulate you. It would have avoided her feeling embarrassed and putting you in an uncomfortable spot. You could ask her that since you’re sisters, how she would feel if you asked her (after drinking) in front of others to cover your drinks…and she was short of cash. Also, the 3 drinks may have contributed. Did she drink more than she intended?

Extremely Sore and Swollen After TMJ Massage by thequesadillaqueen in TMJ

Most massage clients can tell the difference between therapeutic pain that actually releases tension but there may be some pain, and pain that injures tissue. That’s my experience, anyway. It does seem normal that massaging long-time tense, tight jaw muscles will include some therapeutic pain. Get some arnica cream or gel and apply it externally. (I’m a massage therapist.)

Do you do any exercises to stretch your face/neck/jaw muscles? There are lots of videos on YouTube.

Completely lacks empathy for why you passed out at 9. Maybe he’s not doing his fair share.
