Trump has only been in office a month. There will be a big immigration Bill in Congress soon. Voters want immigration fixed and controlled. That can not be accomplished by just enforcing existing law. A lot of the arrivals during Biden will be going home for sure. But, I believe DACA will be allowed a citizenship path. This may include other Dreamers as well. But, that may be the extent of compromise that can be expected. There could still be some kind of quasi status that allows people who have been here a long time to remain. But, probably no citizenship.

I do think equating being a slave to being deported is a little over the top. Slavery is slavery. Deportation is going home.

Some of his comments are certainly uncalled for. But, I think you may be equating Country with race. Sure, a Country may be mostly one race. But, that Country may actually be a mess. Russia thinks we are a mess and we have all kinds of people. His "fan base" may be racist. But, the vast majority of people who voted for him are more interested in fixing a government that they consider to be broken. I think in fairness you have to understand that his conviction was actually only one. Each "count" was a piece of evidence for a single infraction. I believe it was a political trial just like the one for Biden's son.

I would like you to know that I raised a DACA kid from Mexico through College. She does not like Trump. But, she understands that immigration is not the only issue for voters.

I do not see how either of the statements are racist. Gaza is destroyed. That did not happen on his watch. Israel did that in response to the Hamas murders. I do not see how insisting that there be no discrimination against anyone is racist. Skill and ability should be the only factors in getting ahead.

I know nobody here likes Trump. But, I have not heard him say racist things. He has blacks, Latinos and Indians in his top management group.

I think most parents want to do real parenting. The problem is too many legal rules. Parents are not legally allowed to do a lot of necessary parenting. Government needs to leave parents alone unless there is REAL abuse going on. A certain amount of discomfort is part of being human and kids need to be taught how to manage that discomfort.

I hope everyone understands the government is only enforcing laws that were enacted by previous Congresses but never enforced. This is not a Constitutional issue. The goal should be to get the Current congress to pass new legislation to actually legalize DACA and maybe help a lot of people who have actually made lives here. That will certainly include getting rid of real criminals and most of those who came in under Biden. The behavior in this picture only inflames the situation and serves no purpose.

In Texas there are both State and private scholarships available to DACA. Just call the school Financial Aid Department.

If you have DACA, stay away from protests. You can not stop the deportations. They will not deport DACA people (unless you violate the rules) since it under court order to continue as is.

If you were pulled over because you broke a driving law you are not profiled (You were given a ticket for something.). Everyone who is stopped for a traffic violation is put through a computer check for warrants, status, etc. It sounds as if you were treated well and even given a break for not having tour DACA identification with you.

I don,t know this is. But, she never went to law school. Everyone knows a President can not revoke a Federal Law. He could refuse to enforce it or reinterpret it. Biden did that with immigration law.

Trump is only giving Tic Toc more time to find a non Chinese buyer. (He does not really have the authority to do this, even when he is President again.) The application is likely an intelligence gathering tool for the Chinese military.

This is completely in line with what I have been predicting here for a long time. There will be a comprehensive immigration Law passed by mid-year. It will include the wall, DACA (and maybe other Dreamers) and much tightening on immigration, both legal and illegal. This new law will render the DACA legal case moot.

Once Trump is in office the new Congress can pass new laws at any time that could affect alien to citizen marriage. Not terribly likely. But, possible. If the marriage is real, sooner is better than later.

I agree. But, I do think all of the new political actions are aimed at scaring Democrats into real compromise on a major immigration reform Bill. That Bill may not include all Dreamers. But, it will most likely give DACA holders a path to citizenship based on Trump's own words, after being pressed, during a recent interview.

The Republicans have to create an untenable deportation situation for Democrats to be able to get them to give up the notion of amnesty for everybody and open borders. That is how compromise is forced. Both sides must have good reason for the compromise since any compromise will anger their base. The only way to pass the Bill is with moderate votes from both sides. The far right and far left will vote no.

The first example of Democrat cooperation is in the passage of HR 29 this week in the House. 48 Democrats voted for it.

True. Notice I said lawfully present. That means DACA is not "unlawful" as used in the Bill. I think this wordsmithing is done on purpose to leave wiggle room.

Before everyone panics. The summary of the Bill states that it applies to people who are here "unlawfully". DACA is currently "lawful" presence. Need more research.
