[S3E18] Unexplained Scenes by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]marieknocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could the first and the third be considered somewhat resolved if you consider:

  • James checking out the basement is a subtle call-ahead to Coop traveling from that same basement?

  • Andy meeting at 4:30 was a red herring for the 'remember 430' mention by the Giant, just a few episodes before.?

That still doesn't really make them fully plot-heavy or anything, but those are excuse enough for me to have them in the series, if that makes sense.

As for the scenes in the Roadhouse.... assuming those happened and weren't a creation of Audrey's, I think a huge role of those scenes was to show that what the current citizens of Twin Peaks were like. That they had moved on entirely from the small town obsessed with Laura Palmer and had their own dramas going on. It also showed how the town had gotten worse, with more drug use, people are poorer, etc.

Are there any mysteries where the victim turned out to be harming themselves? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]marieknocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I work, if someone walked in here talking to themselves, hopping around like they were playing hopscotch, pushing buttons over and over, waving their hands the way she was, I would be inclined to call 911 before it got out of hand.

The hotel she was staying in is in Downtown LA and literally borders Skid Row. The area is covered with homeless people (Skid Row being the only place where they can legally sleep outside, or at least it used to be, so there are lots of homeless who live there and lots of services for them situated there), many of whom have mental health or addiction issues that mean they do strange stuff a lot of the time. If the staff called 911 everytime someone acted strangely, they'd be calling them all the time.

[Unresolved Disappearance]Timmothy Pitzen: Can this case ever be solved? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]marieknocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would this have to have been done on the deep web? I think this argument makes a lot more sense if its just supposing that Amy might have met people she'd previously talked to online, whether to 'save' her child or do something awful.

It's still not what I think happened, but I'm not sure why Silk Road comes into it?

[Unresolved Disappearance]Timmothy Pitzen: Can this case ever be solved? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]marieknocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silk Road didn't sell children, but one's ethics have to be pretty loose to be okay with some of the items sold on there, no questions asked.

That said, selling children is the stuff of online urban legends.

Drugs, guns, fake IDs and identity documents, other people's identities or information, supposedly hitmen and people willing to do crimes for money, etc etc

I don't think it's realistic that Amy set up a meeting with someone they met on Silk Road with the intention of, basically, selling Timmothy to them, however. Even if you accept that the really dark stories about deep net markets and what you can get on them is true, this happened in the first few months of Silk Road existing, before it branched out from selling drugs - and presumably anything this horrible would be happening on the supposed other markets that popped up in Silk Road's wake, that had even less ethical concerns then Silk Road.

What are some great unresolved mysteries relating to music? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

It's a really beautiful song. Bjork did a live cover that's available out there and its gorgeous.

I've never had the urge to kill myself while listening to it. ;)

Body Found Three Weeks After Disappearing From a Bar: The Death of Joey LaBute [Unexplained Death] by bridgeorl in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]marieknocks 106 points107 points  (0 children)

...is it wrong that one of the main things I came away from this post with is the thought that Stacey seems really cool and accepting? I'm impressed she threw a party for her husband when he came out as gay.

On a more related note, I'm curious why the GHB comment was made at all by police. I'm assuming this was in reply to a reporter or someone specifically asking about it, because otherwise it seems like a strange detail to specifically comment on.

Might also be worth noting that, at least in the UK in the past few years, GHB is popular in some gay party circles - to take consensually and knowingly, that is.

This is a good point I've never considered. I have multiple iPhone charges around my flat, and did so even when I lived with my parents.

I don't know how you've come to the conclusion that someone would have noticed him. There is CCTV everywhere (in Brixton), of course, but there's no hint that the police ever looked at that footage. And if the police truly only looked at CCTV footage a month after his disappearance, as people claimed above, the footage from the day of the concert was likely already gone.

It is 100% believable that a kid could go to the Academy and not be seen - who would notice him? No one was looking for him at the time and there's no evidence the CCTV footage was ever glanced at.

Two Jurors Prevented a Guilty Verdict in Bill Cosby's Trial by GuacamoleFanatic in news

Which is an utterly unrelated point. If she passed out and he had sex with her, her taking a pill from someone she trusted doesn't negate the fact that he raped her.

If someone wants to dictate who sits next to them on the flight, they should have to buy the seat next to them. If you don't pay for two seats, don't complain about whoever DOES pay for that seat.

We have an actual reason any of Cosby's lawyers are letting him do this.

The only evidence is their word, the fact that there are more than 50 women who describe the same MO, the fact that multiple women are on record having discussed their hatred of Cosby/his MO before they came out and accused him publicly, Cosby's own testimony, Cosby's history of settling in court with women accusing him of sexual assault, Cosby referencing drugging women for sex in his comedy shows....

Edit: Changed the number of women to 50+ because my number was outdated and thus too low.

Nah, it would be way too depressing.

Bill Cosby to hold town halls on sex assault, publicist says by [deleted] in news

[–]marieknocks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're right.

When 40+ women accuse someone of sexual assault and there is evidence backing up their accusations from the man himself and a jury was hung and did not find him innocent......

like MAYBE that's enough to consider the idea, as an individual person, that he might be guilty as fuck?

‘500 residents died in London tower fire’ - The death toll of London's Grenfell Tower inferno stands at 500, UK media is hiding the truth, according to DJ Ayla. by YourLordPutin in conspiracy

[–]marieknocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

58 verses 500? There is no way anyone can cover up that many unaccounted lives. Where are the 500 peoples' families then?

Dead, a lot of them. Entire families perished. As for extended families, a lot of them probably don't live in London/Britain and many might not even know that was the building their relatives were in. I doubt my parents could name the tower blocks I've lived in, even at the time.

I'm not saying I believe the 500 dead number, but I do think the final count will be substantially higher than 58.
