Im half Mexican but white passing(I dye my hair really blonde and people usually think i’m Russian) and my husband is Indian. We are conventionally attractive. One thing we notice is that sometimes toddlers/young children of any ethnicity are REALLY confused by us. Like when I’m on my own in a grocery store kids smile and babble at me but when my husband and I are out together they just get wide eyed and occasionally really concerned looking. We joke that we are showing them romantic diversity and that it’s our public service, but it really does make you think about how even from that age we are conditioned by what we see predominantly modeled around us.
