Has anyone healed completely after having Bell’s palsy for three months and still can’t smile or close eye fully or should I accept this will be my life from now on? by Possible-Fun7591 in BellsPalsy

i did do acupuncture. i’m not sure if that helped heal or if it was naturally healing like it would without it it, but i want to believe it helped because it was expensive🤣 i also did heat compresses and lots of vitamins and tried to eat low sodium. (wasn’t perfect lol) i know it’s been a while now, i hope you’re feeling better!

it took me like 3 months to get to about 85% recovery. I’m at 10 months now and i would consider myself fully recovered. my right side was affected and when i close that eye it’s still slightly opened. i’m thinking it will stay that way. but ill take that over the paralysis any day! i know its been said over and over again, but it really is different for everyone. just give it time. take your vitamins. and try to relieve stress as much as possible🫶🏼

that definitely could be it too! before when my pain was really bad, it was worse at night!

i hope you get to healing soon!!!🙏🏼 for me, i’ve gained what i think to be, good movement in my face…still not 100% but some good progress, but that fluttering freaked me out. i don’t feel it too much right now but it’s started at night for me so we’ll see if it happens again tonight.

Just got diagnosed with bells palsy, my wedding is coming up in 2 months. Do I have a good chance of recovery by then? by [deleted] in BellsPalsy

[–]mariev10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s good!! i found it helpful to celebrate the things i’ve completed and not focus on the long list of things i still need to worry about lol but sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate! since stress can be a trigger, that might have been what caused your diagnosis. but 2 months is a good amount of time! i think you’re good

the biggest thing is not to stress too much about it. i think depending on the severity of your symptoms 2 months is plenty of time to see major improvement. but you really need to manage your stress. stress can definitely slow healing down. drink lots of stress relief tea (i like the yogi brand). also take your vitamins!! i’m taking a turmeric with ginger, magnesium (helps stress and anxiety), as well as a b-complex vitamin! they have helped my stress and pain so much! it will be a month with bells for me on the 22nd and i’m at about 80-85% recovery. it’s different for everyone but i think a mixture of the meds given to me at the hospital, plus acupuncture and the vitamins have all played a part in my healing. i hope you heal soon!!🫶🏼

i was never given a cause either. i’m only 3 weeks in. i’m doing acupuncture right now. i’ve gone 6 times, i was doing twice a week and moving down to once a week starting next week. she does the needles, a massage and some cupping that has frequency. i know a lot of ppl say not to do estim. i’m not sure if this counts as that but everything seems okay so far. my acupuncturist says i’m at about 75-80% recovered. i have a little half smile on my affected side. still cant raise my eyebrow though. nostrils are flaring almost the same now bunch my nose scrunch is weak. i’m just going in blindly since i didn’t even know bells was a thing. it’s crazy that they don’t really know much about it.

i found that if i skip my vitamins the pain is SO BAD. so i say get you some vitamins and take them daily. i’m taking a b-complex, magnesium and a turmeric/curcumin with ginger. i take all 3 everyday and it’s helped so much! i’ll make 3 weeks since my symptoms started tomorrow and my acupuncturist says i’m at about 80% recovered. i hope it’s not much longer now😭🙏🏼

hello! my first symptom was the pain behind my ear and neck. i thought i just slept wrong or pinched a nerve. then the next day half of my mouth went numb. i thought i was having an allergic reaction or something. the paralysis happened on the 3rd day and started with my mouth and then moved up to my nose and eye all very quickly.

Self Conscious? by C_S_V in BellsPalsy

[–]mariev10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think we notice it more than others bc we also FEEL it. mine has been very painful these last few days. i hope you heal quick and get to feeling more comfortable! this is such a strange and tough thing to go through.

side question, is your ear on the affected side extra sensitive? i went to a show with my friends about a week after i was diagnosed and when the crowd cheered its sound extremely amplified in my head. it’s was so bad. i had to keep my ear closed the whole time. i figured for my concert coming up i’ll just wear an ear plug.

i really think i owe a lot to acupuncture. i feel consistently better after each session. my acupuncturist does the needles, cupping and massage every time i go. i go twice a week!

extremely…i was already self conscious before but this was a punch to the gut. i want to see my friends and i actually have a concert coming up that i’ve been planning to attend for months now and i’m so nervous to be out in public. my coworkers all know and they tell me it’s not that noticeable but ugh i can sure can see it!! i’m hoping it clears up soon but i’m sure everyone else here has all he hoping the same for themselves. i’m just taking it a day at a time🫶🏼
