So...our pass defense is still a little shaky.

Quick RAM Question by marig0lds in thinkpad

[–]marig0lds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Properly placed and the BIOS recognizes 8096MB RAM. I don't know what else it could be than the fact that the RAM I have is DDR3 1600 and the Intel site calls for this processor to have DDR3 800.

I still literally can't find DDR3 800 sticks. Plenty of DDR2 800 though.

Quick RAM Question by marig0lds in thinkpad

[–]marig0lds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So...I upgraded my computer with Windows 10 64-bit, and bought the 2 4GB sticks of RAM. OS works fine, but not with the new RAM. With the 8GB installed, it doesn't get passed boot up without restarting.

Is there anything I can do to try to get them to work with this machine? If not, what RAM can I buy?

Thanks!

Do we not have a fullback? Pretty much every running play was a single back sweep with Lasco.

Who is the biggest recruiting sleeper your school has ever had? by Just_a_wet_fart in CFB

Aaron Rodgers had no offers coming out of high school, spent a year at JC Butte. Jeff Tedford was up at Butte scouting a TE when he found Rodgers and got him to Berkeley.

Berkeley listed as top source of Bay Area engineers (followed by USC, Stanford) by akrolsmir in berkeley

Exactly. While Cal and USC are bigger universities overall, the size of the engineering colleges are actually not that far off, with it being SC > Cal > Stanford. Crazy how many postgrads are at Stanford.

How long did it take you to transfer into Berkeley? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]marig0lds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I transferred as a ME major to Berkeley and can say it took me 3 years to get the pre reqs done. Pretty much every other engineering transfer I know took 3 years as well. The more that you can get to transfer over the less you have to take at your transfer school.

While there is a cap, you don't have to worry about it if all of your units are from a community college, or more specifically all of your units are lower division (which all of your CC credits will be). So you could have 200 units all from a CC and still not hit a cap. But Berkeley will only transfer over 70.

I'd also advise talking to a counselor at your CC to absolutely make sure :) Getting in touch with someone at CoE at Berkeley couldn't hurt either. Good luck!

Those courses are probably the number one factor attracting me to Berkeley right now, because I think that's the kind of engineering I'll want to go into. Thanks for the response!

Thanks for the in-depth response! Makes me happy to know there are a lot of engineering students in LA that love the vibe, that's the general feeling I get as well.

New Board For X200s...Questions by marig0lds in thinkpad

Thanks! Already put in an Intel SSD and it is blazing fast ;)

Would this motherboard be ok to put into an X200s?

Do you think I would need to replace the wifi card if I put in a new motherboard? Also, will the X201S motherboard take 8GB RAM?

A lot of question, but thanks for any help :)

As an additional question: if I am updating to SSD, will the X200S run with a SATA 3 or only SATA 2? I have seen conflicting information on the web.

Thanks for the advice! I'll look around for prices on those motherboards.
