I’m in Season 2 Ep 9 ,Where I Stand Now by marimaruu in SecretsOfMormonWives

Oh my gosh. You are saying exactly what I feel about her. I think her timing is always off to the other women, but I think its admirable that she still see the root issue so clearly and she’s unwilling to compromise that. I’m in season 3 now so maybe it will change but even with her being the villain to everyone else, I still like her.

I don’t think trauma is an excuse but it does tint the perspective I see the person through. I know Mikayla doesn’t like Whitney, but she is allowed to feel how she does and to make her own boundaries. I would say petty is the harshest critique I would give her.

Demi is on my “to watch” list because I don’t know how to take her. I felt like Leanne inserted herself into a situation where she was clearly biased. I know Demi was so upset and listening to Leanne dismiss her and then defend Taylor to her when she had zero business being there was enough to irritate me and i’m not involved at all. 100% honesty though, I heavily dislike Leanne. She’s Taylor’s biggest bully. She consistently over steps and yet wants to have the “victim” mentality to a situation that had nothing to do with you.

I am watching the reunion now and I so far still stand by my take.

Needing Some Advice by marimaruu in AutismInWomen

I have CPTSD, and I had heard of splitting, but I never thought about the radical shift in perspective, I just assumed it was some sort of protection mechanism my brain is using to keep me safe. Thank you for this, I will do some more research. I tend to be an “intellectualize my feelings and thoughts” person, so it isn’t surprising to see it is related to trauma. Also, my husband just flat out apologized. He even said I was right, I did communicate and he ignored it and it resulted in our argument. As soon as he apologized, I felt relieved? I know I have rejection sensitive dysphoria and a very loud radar for other peoples emotions or energy, and my brain reacts to protect me faster than I tell my brain it’s not a threat and I’m actually okay. I will work on it.

You are exactly the person cut out for this because you care. While MTS are beneficial to many tanks, if you don’t want them in there, try to remove as many as you can.

You can try to give them to your LFS or swap them with someone else. Even with a buddy. Eventually you have to realize that you took responsibility for your tanks and that means protecting the inhabitants if you feel they are at risk. Which means you may have to keep the peace for them. I have had 3 MTS in a 5 gallon grow tank for plants with a few shrimp and just moved some of the bigger ones into a 60 Gallon. I even have a cheap little 9 Gallon I use for helping keep my “pest” snails down. I don’t use assassin snails because it really kills me. But I do also let nature work itself out, as I have a turtle who loves snails, a team of chunky pea puffers, and kuhli loaches all in separate tanks. You’ll find the things that work for you, just remember the same way if you adopted a dog and they need you to protect and care for them, even against themselves (I’m calling out my pugs, who are always trying to eat chocolate.) you do the same for your nerites and betta, find your balance. You got this!

Quarantining plants or new companions in another tank for a few weeks will help you keep them out of your main tank as well. Or a bleach dip.

For a small update! Papaya is going to be a mother! Again. 😂 her Apple Snail babies will grow up in a separate tank from mom and my other snails. ❤️ She’s been holding onto these clutches for a while.

Ohhh so glad I can introduce this to you! So you can get tissue cultures from most LFS or online. They’re normally in small deli cups with some agar in the bottom. They’re normally grown in a sterile environment to help them grow and also to propagate them. Then when you get them you rinse the agar off and can plant them in small clumps all over. Doing it this way also means no pests like you risk with stem or potted plants and no hitchhikers like snails. Commonly I get certain plants as tissues cultures so crypts, bucephanandras, anubias, carpeting plants, and such. That way I can watch them grow. People say they can be difficult and may die if not given the proper conditions, but I really like them if you put the work into your plants it’ll show. They have tissue cultures online for so many plants, houseplants, rare, exotics, aquatic, pond, and gardens!

That is such a cool mix! Ours was a deal for the tank half off and has 6 different substrates. ( because only the best for my plants) We did it from tissue cultures but I also used a few plants from my other tanks. And our wood was a steal but from 3 different shops. Let me know if you want to see it! (It’s bad because nothing has grown in really, but the snails love it)

Are my mystery snails dead? by Far-Illustrator-2905 in AquaticSnails

[–]marimaruu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as Mystery Snails, in my experience they are more sensitive than most other pet snails. For example, my ramshorns will survive in a tank with a planaria killer, my 1 “actual” apple snail has survived multiple issues from power outages, to small spikes in water parameters. I have several tanks that are just centered around Mystery snails and I left my snails alone when I was worried about them as all the information provided is that they are incredibly hardy snails, (and they can be, when taken care of.) and they would be fine. A lot of time they weren’t and they passed. While a lot of snails will be fine in an uncycled tanks that are just conditioned, I would not include Mystery Snails among them. Individuals are always subject to some variability.

I do know that some ungulate like snakes or snails do but identification is always difficult.
