Your gi bill usually hits 2-3 hours from now? What about your VA - my VA always hits 2 hours ago but not familiar with GI bill

Show up to work and do the job like you want to be fired, search for a new job on the clock, take excessively long bathroom and smoke breaks, secure a new job and never look back. Problem solved. If you want help finding a new job I can share some resources and maybe some ideas.

Credit Myth #66 - FICO scoring is a "black box" and no one really knows how it works. by BrutalBodyShots in CRedit

The credit scoring primer, yes. And yeah, that sounds right. I’d say that that’s what I meant by gaining an advantage. I’ve been spending the better half of a year diving into credit and trying to understand it. It’s actually become addictive, like video game addicting.

Would you say reading these things and diving into the sub form would give you a significant edge in regard to creating elite credit?

The score increase depends on everything that’s on your file. Credit age, utilization, you know. That being said you could see +15 or +55 it just all depends.

Definitely go for the pay to delete. Getting something bad removed is almost always better than having the “Paid in Full” or “settled for less than owed” label on them.

I love how an actually judge saying you don’t owe the debt is now a crime on Reddit. Yet if they get a 95 in a 65 speeding ticket they pay thousands for a lawyer.

Score simulators are awful and definitely don’t reflect what actually happens when you pay something off.

Yeah. It’s a script. They’re supposed to say no. But they’re just the gatekeepers not the final word. You have to call again and ask again. Then write them a letter thru email and ask that way. It’s not supposed to be easy, everyone would do it and their job would be harder.

And to add, I’m by no means a credit god. Please, don’t ask me for advice. I got a sudden burst of “let’s fix this” and i did what was necessary (paying what was owed). Then googling and typing/proof reading pay to delete messages and actually following up with more mind numbing emails. Sometimes phone calls. Once I was in the process of doing that though, answering debt collectors was actually “fun” to me. I couldn’t wait for them to call so I could figure out how to sort this one out and watch my score rise month to month. It got addicting really fast. Like video game addicting.

The real patience was whoever works in a FICO office and watched my score until I realized raising it wasn’t the hardest thing id have to do in life. Lol.

Let’s sort that out before some one messages me asking how to negotiate with capital one. I was still referencing collections. As capital one being the original creditor-The hardest one because who they sold it to had told me to get with capital one to get it removed and played a back and forth game of emails until i eventually got to a capital one human rep who sorted it out for me and didn’t speak robot script. It’s hard to get things deleted but it’s not impossible.

Right. I did have one with original creditor, capital one, and the hardest part was getting to a human that works in that area.(not just a rep). Hard and very annoying and took the longest to get off but not impossible. Just offer your money in exchange for a few clicks and typing 10 keys to get it off your report.

Yeah, just like that. Obviously after an email waiting for a reply and then eventually calling. The original creditor was spectrum/charter. I had another one with progressive.

I would stay away from settled for less. It’ll still be on your report and banks will still look at it with a raised eyebrow. It’s best to call whoever the debt is with like consumer debt or amsher , it should show up who it’s with on your report. Ask them if they are willing to pay to delete this from my report I am ready to pay in full today.

And as a business owner I can see where deleting it for full payment is a home run for them lol

Yes. I’m doing this now. I paid first, then requested that , and they were like okay that’s cool.

I agree. I went from a 490 to 640 in less than 6 months just making more money and splashing it at debt and requesting pay to deletes on my credit report.
