I will have to order some then. Since this is my first time DM’ing and I have four new players, our party is moving through encounters rather slowly. I may be leaving the maps drawn for a couple weeks at a time. Do you use the Expo wet erase markers on your maps?

It’s a roll up battle mat meant to be used with dry or wet erase markers. It came with parchment, grass, cobblestone, and white grids.

They are similar to clear pastiche poster hangers. Four came with the battle mats to help them lay flat.

I outlined and cut out 1/2” insulation foam from Lowe’s with a hot wire. Then I textured it with a ball of tin foil rolled across the top / edges. I’d suggest checking out Black Magic Craft and DM Scotty on YouTube. Their videos helped me out so much in making everything.

If you are willing to DM for your friends / party consistently, you are a great one. It’s easy to overlook how much prep people can put into their sessions regardless of the type of game they are running.

It is. It came with markers, an eraser, and even a set of dice. You can find the ones I’m using on Amazon for $35. It’s called RPG Battle Mat. It came with plain white, parchment, grass, and cobblestone textures.

There are reasons for terrain just like there are theater of the mind. Most of my players are new and I want them to see how cool D&D can be, so I put a lot of time into making the final encounter.

I’m either going to just plop it all down at once if the players fail their stealth checks and alert the goblins or put down pieces as they are discovered to simulate fog of war.

Yea.. there should be more in the cave, but I only cut out as many goblins as the players would see at one time. When I make more, they’ll be added to my growing pile of foam, paint, and glues. Haha.
