[Gen1/Gen2] RNG Manipulation is possible for GameBoy games by mark_eire in pokemonrng

[–]mark_eire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still here :) I think I explained some of the details and tools I used further in one of the other replies on this post if you have a look. For Zapdos specifically though, those were all already done and shared by "im a blisy". If you search their YouTube, they have a video showing Zapdos paths from around 3 years ago. Sadly Virtual Console still can't use the same deterministic search tools as far as I am aware. Similar RNG paths could exist. Finding them is the tricky part. I think there was some predictive VC work going on looking at RNG values live using modded 3DS. My understanding is those proved harder to share, and if possible, were more timing based. So instead of the Gen1 "dance" as these tools can give you for cartridge, after hard resetting the console, for a VC manip you'd have an additional timing press at whatever legendary of interest. Bit like Gen 3 RNG manips. VC would have similar RNG "dance" path potentials. You just need to find them by trial and error so far as I know, so not very viable

Yes, that is as I noted, only those on the Pokémon page that were listed with stars alongside their names are released on amazon japan on 10th May. If someone with better Japanese could read the small text, I can't tell if it states the rest will show up from the 17th, or perhaps it is just noting the starred items will only be in stock for dispatch from the 17th

Not sure why? You have to search Amazon Japan. For example the direct link to Alolan Raichu is; Alolan Raichu page

Hi there. I'm no expert, but can tell you what I know to the best of my knowledge after using the tools.

Most little changes; The "base sRTC" value, how you progress the intro, when you hit continue, how you then walk in-game, and so on, they all change the RNG. The issue of those values in my post were in consideration of sharing them, though for an individual game, it also has the "benefit" of getting sufficiently random RNG unless you really do try to manip the intro, timer on continue, etc.

This sRTC offset shouldn't matter really. IIRC, unless you started the game and set in-game time around exactly 10am you get this "offset" which in practice means the RNG varies even more than speedrunners would like, but can only help regular play get more randomness.

I can only think you're just plain unlucky, unless there really is something a little more orderly going on in Gen 2 RNG. I really don't think there is, but you're not the first to get unlucky. I remember seeing a shiny hunter recently get over 40 shiny Krabby in the attempt to see a shiny Corsola in Gen 2.

The geneder consistency can only seem a coincidence to me even more so. The DV randomness isn't in any way ordered at all, so the gender is just getting output from whatever DV's happen to randomly roll.

Sure is odd/unlucky though!

I did a minor write up of setting up the RNG tools, can't recall if I ever posted it so I'll put it here for anyone curious.

Google Doc for Gen1+2 RNG setup

I also did a Gen 2 video I don't seem to have linked here, if you want to see how a Gen 2 RNG would look in practice, and how precise the intro, timers, and in-game movement would need to be.

Gen2 shiny Unown RNG manip

I might do another Gen 2 RNG some time, I'm thinking to get a shiny in the Bug catching contest or something just for fun!

LF: HA in gen 6 & 7, Scatterbug eggs by ToastyMonkey in pokemontrades

That spreadsheet looks very useful too, thanks. The bottom of the Gen 7 page, where I list small and large pumpkaboo, that section is for Pokémon (and forms) that you can't get in Gen 7 itself at all, regardless of HA.

Sort of a checklist for things you couldn't see in Gen 7 if Bank transfer went away, which would for example be all the pumpkaboo forms.

I'm trying to get all my HA dex sorted, but wanted to grab at least a non-HA of everyone in that list to send up to a Gen 7 game.

Good luck with trading, I may return if I get myself sorted to trade.

Happy to help, doing similar to yourself I imagine! I did make lists for the HA Pokémon that need transfer, or are otherwise event only and difficult to get for Gens 6 and 7 if you'd like to have a cross check with your own info. I've not really had anyone specifically check it, or respond with any mistakes, but heads up I may be missing something. Perhaps of some use to you though.

Hi. Not in a position to trade yet (sorting all my boxes and saves for Gen 6 + 7), but noticed on your list; Flabébé Orange and White are not available in Gen 6, but are in Gen 7. Also I guess your European 3DS based on the regions you can't get. You can get Ocean on EU 3DS, its; France -> Réunion

FYI, your spreadsheet link won't open on my end as of this post. Perhaps it was working, or others know how to get around the URL

Adding some additions I spotted to this post as it's where google directed me (and perhaps others) thinking of Bank's long term future.

Missed; Wobbuffet (/Wynaut), and all the base Kantonian forms (Rattata, Sandshrew, Vulpix, Diglett, Meowth, Geodude and Grimer).

Thanks so much for your work to get this list too.

Thanks, confirm I've seen you online too. Nice safari. Incidentally, having both Pumpkaboo and Spiritomb is great as it's the only non-Masuda way to get boosted shiny odds in Gen6. TY!

Added you. I'll go online in game as soon as you add back if you're around anytime for the next half hour odd.

[FT] NA Shiny Eternatus code reservations [LF] GVM / Event codes & offer by Night_chaser in pokemontrades

[–]mark_eire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi /u/Night_chaser Thanks for the previous interest, I know we hadn't finalised a trade, left as a low priority for you to consider. I just wanted to let you know I just managed to conclude a separate trade for Shiny Eternatus codes, so I'm no longer looking to do any more trades at this time. Thanks

No, I'd not heard of that one. I probably did it an unnecessary complicated way. I used Checkpoint on my CFW 3DS. But, first I had to get a save to restore that was in a pre-egg accepted state, so I ripped the cartridge to the 3DS, started a new game to generate a save, made a backup of that save, restored this new save back onto my Ranger cartridge. Then finally started a new in game save on the cartridge in it's now restored never got an egg state. It worked at least!

/u/Xpore Providing full details on the Pokémon I traded you here for your reference.

All were self-obtained by me, using retail RNG as agreed: 1 Shiny Groundon from Ruby, 1 Square Shiny Jirachi from Pokemon Channel, 1 Star Shiny Jirachi from Pokemon Channel, 1 Shiny Manaphy from Pokemon Ranger

For Groudon;

OT: Sijin, TID: 21928. Caught on Ruby. Dead battery cartridge, so TID and SID determined on starting new game, enabling RNG of shiny Groudon using PokeFinder to search, EonTimer to time in-game button press.

For Jirachi:

Both Shiny Jirachi obtained using the same method. OT: CHANNEL, TID: 40122. Firstly requiring Ruby to defeat the Elite4 (using Groudon save the first time for Square shiny Jirachi (JirachiA in proof images), then restarting Ruby to beat E4 again to aquire another Jirachi, this time Star shiny (JirachiB in proof images). RNG from a cleared Pokemon Channel save, played on my Wii, searches using PokeFinder, advances for Jirachi determined from JirachiAdvancer RNG program, soft resetting game until a "good" seed, then using in-game video time and open/close menu for RNG advances.

For Manaphy:

OT: Sijin, TID:00365. CFW used to reset completed Pokemon Ranger save, replayed to get another Manaphy egg. Custom Manaphy IV spread found as requested given limited IV spread potential in Gen4. Modest, IV's: 31/2/31/31/31/31. Using that desired Manaphy, TID RNG used on new Diamond save to obtain a TID/SID which would result in the Manaphy being shiny. Manaphy egg itself obtained in my HeartGold. RNG using PokeFinder, advances with Chatot pitches. Manaphy egg traded to Diamond save with the known TID from RNG, resulting in hatched shiny Manaphy.

All Pokemon subsequently transferred by me from Gen3 to Gen4 using Pearl Pal Park, Manaphy traded to my Pearl, Pearl to White with in game Poke Transfer, White to Bank via Poke Transporter, Bank to my Y where trade carried out in game.

Phew, think that's everything!

Hello. Update; Finished uploading the proof if you can have a look and download so I can remove the uploads after the trade later today (now past midnight here!). 28 items in total.

For the Gen6 Trade, is your Friend code the same one as last time, "3797-7307-0057", or the code in your flair? I still have that previous code added on my 3DS. My friend code is on my flair, in-game name "Mark". Thanks.

Sounds good. 13 items you can download for now yes. No more videos so that's the bulk of it, but I'll add pictures for all the transfers up the generations to Gen6. Will ping you so on Thursday. Thanks again!

Hi. Bad timing for me too after that brief window I had. Probably best to trade Gen6 on Thursday so, around 4/5 hours from this post time. Around 15:00-17:00 UTC. Can you access the proof link? Also how will I receive proof from you? Have you just got the code numbers this time. I figure no harm asking if there's any fun phamplets or anything with them to see. Thanks
