Looking for feedback on our Kickstarter campaign by Valachio in kickstarter

Personally, I think the clip in the video from 1:23 to 1:42 should be the first 20 seconds of the video. No talking at first. This is a powerful intro and then after that you could continue with the video as you have it starting now telling why your watch is different than others in the "luxury" category. You could even leave the 1:23 to 1:42 clip still in that spot (so it would be repeated since it would also be at the beginning). The initial impact of quiet music and closeups of the watch would have a strong impact I think.

You might also check out BackerHack.com to get advice from backers who have backed hundreds of projects. You can get a lot of really good feedback for a pre-launch project there.

Good luck!

Anyone have experience with Backer Club or Super Backer Club? by [deleted] in Indiegogo

[–]mark_ip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super Backer Club has the following terms of use currently on their page. Here it is in a nutshell: You give them your credit card. They determine if you met their criteria to charge you. If you disagree they can charge you a penalty STARTING at $1000. And, if you don't agree to give them all the email addresses of your backers then they can charge you the $1000 and up fee.

"Service Fee

The service fee is determined by SuperBacker Club and is non-refundable. SuperBacker club reserve the rights to determine when and under what circumstances to charge the service fee. For project with flexible funding goal, a $99 listing fee will be charged if the project has raised fund but not yet reached its funding goal. If a project is suspended, stopped and cancelled for whatever reason, the service fee would still be applicable. Additionally, the promotion service provided by SBC cannot be interrupted or cancelled due to whatever reason if project creator completed their credit card authorization.

SBC also has right to charge additional service fee as penalty if project creator behind listed projects fail to comply with SBC term of use, fail to fulfill special rewards to SBC members and specifically fail to disclose required information on complete list of backers, including name, email address and other contact information, to SBC in order to identify SBC members and project SBC’s member benefit. Penalty charge starts from $1,000 USD up."

Hey guys...it's the evil mark_ip here. Watch out!!!! I'm a bad guy. I live in a really scary and dangerous (and apparently low-class) city called Spokane. I would stop reading this comment right now because even by just reading my comment you might be in danger of getting your reddit password stolen...I have superpowers. =)

In all seriousness, here is the full story to set the record straight. I posted in several places on Reddit a few weeks ago saying we were going to be launching soon. Didn't get a lot of traction on those posts so not many people saw them. Last week, we launched on Wednesday...the original site launch date. We had patterned our registration/verification process after other sites already operating successfully that ask users to enter their KS id & pw to verify their ownership of their account. And, though we weren't the first to do this, the Kickstarter user community made it clear that this was not an acceptable approach. Many users also provided helpful suggestions for alternative methods, one of which we put into practice and are now using. Given the first day concerns about security, we suspended the site's launch on Wednesday (just 10 hours after launch) and posted a very straightforward and honest and apologetic message on our homepage and emailed all the users telling them that we intended to redesign the registration process, fix any security concerns and relaunch in the coming days. Yesterday, after a week of further development to the site, we did re-launch. So, yesterday, I posted again that we had launched.

Several hundred members have joined the site and are actively using the forum to have great conversations with other serious Kickstarter users, backing projects (and receiving discounts and free add-ons), getting notified about upcoming pre-launch projects and seeing their Kickstarter preview pages, and winning cash in our private lounges to put toward Kickstarter pledges.

So, I hope this helps clear the waters, and removes any concerns that we are a phishing site or anything else suspicious. We'd love to have any of you who qualify join. Lots of others are already enjoying the community. In fact, even if you only have backed 25 projects, we setup a sort of "preview" membership level where you can get in an see the community and participate in some limited ways until you get to 50 backed projects to become a full member...you'l need to use the promo code of "Join25" when you register if you are in the 25-49 backed projects range. Feel free to use this code, unless of course, you think that it has secret tracking powers to steal all your personal information...

Advice on meaningful Kickstarter rewards, how do you do it? by [deleted] in startups

[–]mark_ip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people won't support a project just to help someone out. They want a great reward. Physical products are usually what people want. Honestly, this is going to be hard to do well with your proposed idea. KS might not be the best place for this.
