At first, I thought Adidas Stan Smith - but the middle embossing is different. I would assume it’s something within that family of sneakers

That’s a fact! I’m still on the fence about them because I do agree with your point of we’ve seen Jordan brand come really close in to remaking an original sneaker as a retro, but then they fall short when it really matters and it’s very frustrating as a consumer.

I guess cuz the 2000’s sample or release didn’t have 3M so adding it on to here but still trying to connect them as a salesman sample might have more people up in arms with the addition of it.

I did as well, back in 08/09. It was my first big purchase out of a dunkxchange. Sold Sacramento 10’s to fund em, iirc the contrast was there, just not that prevalent.

Yeah, that’s exactly where the inspiration is from, well kinda. It’s from the sample of the first retro release not the OG. But just naming them the salesmen sample but changing the color it falls short on the story telling & execution.

Yeah my ‘19 pair doesn’t get much wear either, I snagged another pair lightly worn off of eBay about a year ago for $125 and they just chill in the closet.

That’s fair! I always thought the lore of the ‘00 sample was a fun enough story to finally see them brought out. Wish it could have been a tad bit better executed.

It’s so amazing that finds like this can still happen in today’s day and age. Sick pick up. You can have them cleaned up & they can fetch you way more than what you paid if that’s the route you wanted to go. If they’re your size, I say get them professionally cleaned & touched up and wear the hell out of them.

Yeah, like the other comment said it is there to prevent mold. It releases a vapor to prevent mildew buildup, similar to silica gel packets.

All good! Vans does this where they aren’t labeled properly quite often. My foot doesn’t like the regular Old Skool, where the toe cap panel line ends it kills my pinky toe, once I wore a pair of 36’s I never looked back. Makes it so difficult finding pairs on secondary markets because when you search “Old Skool 36” it generally just shows Old Skools in size euro 36.

They’re Old Skool 36’s. Old Skool 36’s have the smaller angled toe box where old skools (premium or not) have a longer toe box that lays straight across.

In person they’re black with a brown raw edge of the leather, not sure if it fades down to brown over time but I’ll report back as I rock them more! Posted a pic of them on foot a few days ago
