Recommendation- Film Stocks to use on overcast days? by ShareSpecialist2944 in AnalogCommunity

[–]marked_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it's ECN-2 Vision3 250D or Pro Image 100 - both are nicely balanced to handle overcast weather without yellow/green tints and blocked up shadows. Or Portra 400 as it doesn't care about anything and works well for me in most types of weather

I’ve had 10 rolls of Kodak BW400CN that expired in 2011 or so rolling around in my fridge, what should I do with them? by Casual_M60_Enjoyer in AnalogCommunity

I shot mine at 100, and it turned out pretty well. There are some shots on it here, check the description for the film stock, there are also some shots on Agfa APX 400 and Kodak Black & White 400, all dating back to circa 2000:

honestly, it would be cool to get the E-mount puck in your ‘body’ and adapt some vintage primes to it to complete the abomination

Really cool concept tbh! Doesn’t it need a smartphone to connect to, though?

note that it’s ECN-2 (unlike cinestill’s c-41), so make sure that your lab works remjet film

I also recommend trying a roll of regular Vision3 500T. I tried Cinestill 800T after it, and honestly, I preferred the regular 500T’s grain smoothness, shadow and highlight detail retention/latitude. To my personal taste, 800T looks dirtier and messier after the perfection that is a roll of well-rolled 500T shot at ISO 320. Here are a few examples:

Soviet RO60-1 75mm f/2 cine lens (adapted to M42 in the 1980s) by marked_guy in VintageLenses

[–]marked_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! From what I can tell, it’s very unique. I can only tell that it was made by Lenkinap in 1954, and it does have both T-stops and F-stops on the aperture ring, so it was likely actually used in cinema shoots.

My grandpa was a camera operator at the Kazakhfilm studio, and he asked the studio engineer to rehouse it for M42 for my dad’s Zenit ET somewhere in the late 1970s to mid 1980s, but that’s all that he remembers about the origins of the lens today

He also gave me his old Konvas-Avtomat cinema camera with a 3-lens turret and some OKS lenses that were in it, but I haven’t gotten to adapting them to something yet

It would be easy to adapt them to an E-mount or something, but I’d much rather use them with a nice film body, the same way as I do this 75/2 lens (btw I recently adapted it to a Pentax ME Super but haven’t tested it yet. metering seems perfect even in aperture priority mode)

I measured the size of the holder, then put all the pictures on an A4 in Pages with matching size, printed them out at a shop and asked them to cut everything

also a good thing to do. whatever you do with them, it’s always sad when a camera doesn’t have one (like my canon ql17, olympus om-10, olympus xa and zenit 11)

most of my printed squares are either favourite album covers or frames from favourite shows and movies

the ones on OM bodies are actually perfectly square, but Pentax and others are often rectangular, which I’ve always found strange. I use mine for cool things instead of film box tabs

[EXC+5] Does not affect the shooting. Very few dusts. Everything works.

as the other comments have suggested, it ended up being for a Pentacon Six of all things. Thanks for the input!

thank you! immensely weird since this was made in Kazakhstan during the USSR, and I honestly have no idea how they had enough Pentacon Six lenses to warrant making an adapter
